Thanks for this. I think most Play owners would be happy just to know updates are coming and the platform hasn’t been abandoned.
It has not been abandoned. The next Play beta will merge fixes and the new features, including bug fixes for the new features and some other fixes. Hopefully, it will be the official release candidate. Unfortunately, the MIDI perform mode and finger drum mode touch on almost every aspect of how Play operates, so a lot more testing, fixes, and revisions than expected.
Looking forward to the update, just a friendly reminder
How about this can of worms?
Have you concidered going open source?
I think there are enough enthusiasts eager to help you.
Maybe a partial open source solution could work? For example: you continue working on synth engines and sound features, open source community helps out with features and bugs.
Hi Mitch, I understand its a heavy load of work, but do you have a range of possible dates for the “merging” firmware? thanks.
Yes, sorry I overestimated how fast the Play updates would go, so I’m not going to try and estimate any timelines now. I’ll post my quarterly update with more info in the next week. I’m not really sure any company is sharing roadmap updates though.
I’m sorry man, but this was the case more than a year ago.
We’ve been on hold ever since…
Please tell me that it’s not abandoned. It’s been so long.
Polyend posted somewhere recently that there is a new beta firmware for the Play. I haven’t tried it myself but I believe it has finger drumming and performance for midi.
@lilots here is the new beta from 26 days ago
Beta #3(hopefully final release) is in the works with a few more crucial bug fixes. Maybe a few more weeks on that.
Please include the usb/ storage disk mode!
I don’t want to risk my project to get wipe off. SD card corruption was a big issue before.
