I will take some of the blame for this, and I apologize. they did say, a few posts ago, that “One of the user-owned units with confirmed signs of this issue is shipped to us for an inspection.” mine is that unit, and I have been so busy with many personal matters that needed immediate attending to that I have not yet mailed the unit in. I will be dropping it off in two days, and hopefully a fix will be found soon enough.
So the file names too long not the case didn’t do anything. But the load a demo project then delete all samples and add your own folders works and they don’t get deleted every time you power off unit.so this is a work around that works!!! But you obviously know that cause you told me to do it?! so when will there be a fix for this? because it’s obviously a programming error or programming problem correct? Just not sure what’s taking so long? Any update would be nice
Hi @here. We received the unit and we are investigating it.
We are having trouble reproducing this issue.
Could anyone make a video with this issue showing the project with the folders and the moment they disappear? That would help us a lot. Thank you!
I tried to upload a video, but I’m too new, so hopefully a text description can help.
Initial conditions:
- Play+, running firmware version 1.1.0.
- SD card was a 32 GB Sandisk Ultra A1 HC1 card, freshly formatted to FAT32.
- SD contents version 1.0.1, plus Perc patches from firmware 1.1.0.
Steps to recreate:
- Create a new project.
- Load a sample pack (I chose ‘Gangsta Rap’, but the bug has happened with all packs I’ve tried).
- Sample Pool shows all the folders and samples as expected, and I can browse folders and place samples as expected. Sample Pool shows 28% memory use.
- Turn the Play+ off and on again using the main power button.
And the outcomes:
- Checking the Sample Pool shows that 28% of memory is still being used, but no folders or samples are visible, only the
<Add New Folder>
entry. - Using the Sample knob, all the samples are still visible under the ‘All’ folder, but when using the Folder function of the knob, no folders are visible. ‘All’ is the only available option.
- Randomize Sample in Folder appears to randomize across the whole sample pool.
- Loading the same sample pack again causes the memory usage to double, though the folders do now appear as expected. All samples are duplicated, i.e. scrolling through samples with the knob shows Bass13, …, Synth29_C, Bass13, …, Synth29_C.
@claire-0842 Thanks for the details. You can upload the video on Google Drive, or similar and link it here
True, you caught me being lazy here’s the video, I hope it helps.
I should add that I’ve been formatting the SD card from an M1 Mac, and I’ve tried both the standard ‘Disk Utility’ approach as well as the CLI version that teleona described above - same behaviour either way.
So for me I have sample packs I’ve made my self. With in the folder have kick folder snare folder and hats folder. Build a song save set and reboot machine load project only the samples you used are left no folders at all got saved. All samples just load that you used but no samples that where in the folder and all folder structures gone vanish
I’ve had a version of the above scenario too, even with the stock sample packs, and without saving the project. Where the only samples that remain after a restart are ones that have been placed on steps.
