Play+: USB Sample/File management

Simple, efficient and usefull. Come on, Polyend! Que just want to focus on music making

Just noticed that the SD card is seen as USB storage on the Synth if it is cabled to a PC and it is selected in the settings. I guess that it might be coming to the Play and Play+ in due course. (I checked on the Play+ and if it is there already it’s not accessed the same way as on the Synth - I haven’t checked further yet.)

It will be great. It’s a bit of pain try to manage the pattern page and can not erase patterns, put a different color on some of them, organize them in a easily way…

Also and more important, it’s really very dificult to manage samples in a project, in the sample pool etc. It takes a lot of time and destroys the flow and the workfkow.

I really adore my Play+ and I create a lot of music with it, but when I have some interesting songs, the problems began: the projects are too heavy and very dificult to handle, I can’t simplify them erasing unuseful patterns, the time to load projects is ethernal etc.

Some improves on the way of USB sample/file management Will be awesome!

Pretty sure there’s USB file management on the Tracker Plus.
Is there a reason its not available on the Play Plus?
Or is just an oversight on the part of Polyend?

Hopefully Polyend are working on this too

It would be sooo helpful to be able to see the sd drive when connected to a computer or iPad and quickly dragging and dropping samples into a new sample pack, it would definitely speed up my workflow in this way.

The tracker has a convenient USB switching feature, and that’s more than enough. But with the Polyend Play, you constantly have to move the memory card back and forth. I understand the team had new products and needed to earn money from simpler, more stable items like FX pedals, but I wish they’d actively return to development and improvements.

another big upvote. heck i’d be happy with just showing up as a standard usb drive even if i had to switch to a different mode on device.

@Mitch promised to share some information on updates within the next couple of weeks.

I guess that’s when we hear if Play / Play+ will still get some attention. Because releasing more updates through separate, smaller beta releases doesn’t seem to apply to these devices (so far).

At this point the USB file transfer / management would be the number one QoL-request for Play-series. This sd card switching really takes out a lot of the fun.

Every time I put the card in the dongle I pray to the elder ones not to get corrupt!
It has happened several times through the years.
Please Polyend, do something about that (and make play/play+ opensource as well).

There’s not much they can do about that - besides removing sd cards entirely and having internal storage instead in the future.

The SD Cards gods are easily angered and fickle.

They could eliminate the need for removing the SD card with storage mode!

Nothing on the Play-series in the latest Quarterly update…

Yeah, I’m afraid that it will soon become abandonware.
But what to expect, polyend is such a small company with dedicated programmers in each project…

Yes, I do understand they’ll have to make some choices… but letting go of a product(line) needs some effort, too. Especially for a small brand.

But as @Mitch chooses to not talk about it at all, I’m also afraid it’s simply discontinued and ignored. In that case, my first experience with Polyend will be my last.

Not mentioning a device does not mean it is discontinued or abandoned, just that I did not have anything concrete enough to share within this timeline of the next 3 months.

The Torso S-4 and Ableton Move both have reasonable USB disk modes.
