I wouldn’t say that what we have TFT IPS or LCD TFT is completely bad, but OLED would be much more pleasing to the eye.
Or is this a marketing strategy to add OLED later so we buy a new version?

Nope
Then why not make good displays right away? Are they much more expensive?
To keep in line with the previous answer:
Yep
Sooner or later Polyend will release OLED and I will be forced to upgrade)
Not really and honestly you could probably already do that upgrade yourself. The screen uses a pretty standard ribbon cable. Chances are you might be able to find an oled that could fit or get one custom made.
My $.02 is that I think the display on the Tracker+ at least is very nice. Fantastic viewing angles and a relatively glare-free matte finish. I sure wouldn’t mind more brightness and pixels, but I’d rather keep the price down since I imagine swapping out the screen would be a big expense compared with decisions about components like the DAC, the buttons, the processor…
It already has a good display! Unfortunately not the ideal display for you.
If/when that happens, I promise you will have a choice and nobody will force you, except maybe yourself
I really don’t care about OLED, but why are there no brightness settings for the screen on the Play+? It honestly might be the first backlight device I’ve ever owned with no brightness adjustment.
Please forgive me if I’m just an idiot and overlooking a setting that actually does exist.
There is a wish for that actually, just nobody is voting for it
I’m gonna start wishing as hard as I can
You have to start and look at the bill of materials somewhere. And since screen resolution doesn’t affect sound quality, it shouldn’t really matter. Tracks made on the Roland MC-707 don’t sound any less “dope” because they use a 1980s LCD.
Sorry for ranting…
It’s nice they don’t use OLED IMHO. Beyond the obvious cost benefits, there’s also the fact one doesn’t have to worry about the problems with PWM that bother some of us to the point of distraction. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for most of the phones on the market these days!
% agree
price point is certainly a factor given the competition/ which some are corporations with multiple brands or historical catalog.
But just for future reference IMO the outputs could be upgraded for higher fidelity (2x sterio aux would also be welcome) …
my console for a future unit would be a hybrid. Poland has two amazing forward thinking instrument manufacturers that could make a truly awesome instrument/ sampling synth workstation… cough cough call Bastl:v:
I wish Tracker would have black and white dot display instead.
Like on Elektron?
Sorry, but this sounds like a luxury problem Have you ever tried programming a Yamaha DX-7 on a 2x16 bar display?
ahahah luxury problem
I’ll take the Tracker screen over anything Elektron have to offer any day of the week
