Template with options for new project

When creating a new project quite a few settings like e.g. midi settings are back to their defaulted states.

Would it be possible when choosing ‘new project’ that you can choose a template (project).

You even can add an option when creating a new project based on a template project that you want to copy the samples, scale settings, midi settings, patterns.

Add to the file the option ‘Template project’ where you can select the project and have boolean switches for: samples, scale settings, midi settings, patterns which will be loaded with new template project.

What is the problem?

Changing a lot of settings for each new project

What do you want to achieve?

Use template for new project

Are there any workarounds?

No

Wait, you already can have a template project. Just create a new project, adjust settings to your needs, then save it with a name like ‘_Template’ (so it appears in the beginning of the project list). When you start working on a new project, instead of ‘New Project’, open the ‘_Template’ project, and when you decide to save your new project, instead of ‘Save’, press ‘Save as’ and give the project a name that you like.

Elektron devices have an option to lock projects, in order to help prevent accidentally overwriting your “template projects”. Thats a quite nice way of handling this, I think.

It also allows you to lock projects you are using and messing up in a performance.
