Never had even one glitch with my electribe EMX/ESX, em1, ea1, mpc1000 (jjos+OEM), JV2080, command stations, etc etc… the list goes on… I also never experienced any bugs from the digitakt or digitone, which I heard had a few bugs on release but they were PROMPTLY patched…
The Polyend Tracker + is the first device that routinely/consistently freezes requiring a hard reset that I have had in the last 20 years. And thats without mentioning the dire midi bug that completely screws up recording live midi input.
The idea that my samples could simply poof and disappear on my electribe esx or digitakt is something that NEVER crossed my mind, ever.
korg/elektron/roland/yamaha all come with small bugs on release, but they are quickly squashed, and none of them are “How am I going to record notes” bugs
digitakt was rushed out. it was full of bugs and stuff on release. it was still an incredible machine, but it was nothing like it is now. I had it from day 1.
its hilarious.
ironically the comments defending the situation are just making it more aggravating:
one one side there is the issues, the plus rollout etc. I do have understanding for a small team overextending itself, to an extent. it is what it is.
then you have people defending buggy products. “hey its all bugs these days”. the guy you replied to actually said spacex has its issues too. “bro its innovation. you try innovating, see where it gets you.” “do your own tracker”. hilarious.
this is what triggered me to comment. this whole “journey” crap as you wrote mentioned is completely insufferable.
Tracker+ Launched about 6 months ago. The latest firmware hotfix is now avaible for all 3 Trackers here Downloads • Polyend
If you are experiencing consistent freezing then it could be a hardware issue. If you feel like the device is broken please DM me or contact support to troubleshoot.
Noted, and sorry you aren’t happy with the device. Based on the feedback from this thread we created the following plan - A Week of Polyend
More so to hint at what we have been working on that i shared above but agreed - mentioning workload is unnecessary and pointless.
Play is not being discontinued, or support for it dropped.
I strongly disagree that greed is a factor here, but I do understand the frustration of a new product launching without the old features promised yet. Play+ and Play launches and development should have been done differently.
There are no plans to drop support of any devices, we consider these a platform, and we are continuing development within the limits of each. There are not new Trackers in the works and plans to drop support.
I’m not sure on this disapearing folder bug. I’m assuming you spoke to someone about it? If not please contact support or file a bug report. edit: They are looking into the disapearing folders but struggling to recreate, feels like a hardware issue to me.
If you are refrencing the tracker record bug this is fixed now, link above. If it is something else we are happy to help you with it. Sorry your experience hasn’t been great, hopefully we can resolve this.
It is analog, I’m confident it works as advertised and it didn’t require any develoment from our software teams. We will always continue to make new products, as most companies do, and are working to find the balance of supporting both the new and old.
I don’t experience freezes with Tracker+ and I use it daily. Not to discount anyone else’s experience but I highly recommend people that are experiencing random freezing contact support@polyend.com to see if there is a hardware issue or troubleshoot so we can get these resolved.
I understand the sentiment, and anything else I say without action is just words but we are making changes how we address firmware updates. The current firmware plan is to shift the the focus to faster bug fixes as sepearte updates and add new features first as open betas to not interfere with stability. You can see how this works in the annoucement I linked above.
I asked a lot of questions here but if you want to speak to me on them directly me please message me here or send me an email at mitch@polyend.com.
That was a rude remark. It’s obvious that this is a much simpler analog device compared to a multifunctional digital device like the Tracker or Polyend. Such toxicity was unnecessary.
I’m not sure that this is a particularly necessary sentiment.
The notion that a single user got a company to make some changes simply by saying a few incendiary things is both laughable on its face, and mostly unhelpful to state.
End of the day, a company can only learn from its previous mistakes and hope to do better going forward. As a customer, it’s your choice on how you judge their efforts and execution going forward, but none of that is helped by being rude.
From an objective standpoint, fixing a platform’s worst bugs, announcing a bunch of future updates and committing to forward updates for these devices feels like a pretty decent reset. Here’s hoping it continues.
Polyend Team; I just want to say thank you. So far the betas are addressing problems faster than I can find them. I’m really excited about what you have in the works and thankfully I have enough gear that when I get frustrated I can just noodle on something else. Most of the problems and bugs I had, have since been fixed. I’m really glad you guys are restructuring how you interact with customers and hopefully the toxicity will die down, because it would be awesome if we could all enjoy this stuff together. Sometimes a fire is necessary for new growth, right? I’m just excited I can finally work the Play + and Mini back into my workflow. At this point I feel much more comfortable upgrading my tracker to a plus (not that I can afford it right now). I felt pretty sad after upgrading the Play a couple months after buying the original, but now as time passed, I love my Play + and my complaints fail in comparison to what I enjoy about it. So again, thank you for continuing to push forward. Hopefully we can all look back on this period as “the beta days” and move on to better days!
Brother, remember the heroes who were banned so you could be happy today and enjoy the released hotfixes .
Despite all this, the Polyend team has made tremendous progress in their approach to work. They delighted us with new products before the New Year and considered a new communication strategy. I hope they maintain the core idea that there’s no point in updating a product until the bugs are fixed and continue to support a high level of product stability because of this. Also, effective work with beta versions.
And I won’t tire of repeating that Polyend is the best modern hardware for music creation.
Still dealing with sample folder vanishing in my Og play …… even after all the updates so still waiting and if one more person tells me to format the card to fat 32 Iam going to snap…… officially there is no fix they are still looking into the issue…. Been that way from day one of buying. As far as Iam concerned it is not acceptable. But guess I get no choice but to wait for them to fix a broken product…. Cuz I waited for a fix not returned it asap. Cuz I trusted this company with my money
The tracker mini fix was nice. fixed all issues got to give credit when deserved. But they released a non analog synth the week after some fixes rolled out Hindsight, 2020 but I think I called it with the compressor that I truely wanted …they where biting at the teeth to release another product with broken ones on the market but agin ….not going to buy another Statue for my Trophy wall… I like making music.
