Polyend questions

If you have questions you want answered by Polyend on Synth and other devices please post them here. A few things to get out of the way first and I’ll answer question on Friday:

Can we share the roadmap for updates and planned features?

Sorry, but I can’t share what updates will be coming to any of the devices. We won’t be certain a feature will make it to the device until it is ready for open beta testing. We will however continue to have open betas available with new features in the future so if ingyou are awaiting new features you can test them when they are ready.

See Synth CPU Usage Info for questions on CPU messages.

On Tracker & Play Firmware updates:

For now our focus will be getting the open beta bugs fixed and then releasing the open betas as official firmware updates. There won’t be any additional new features added while this is ongoing.

Since the keyword is stability, which I like a lot, as I prefer a stable device more, than a feature bloated device.

Which critical bugs can we expect is getting under the scope for Tracker and Tracker Plus?

Since the focus is not “features”, but stability & bug fixing for the next Polyend era, maybe due to the new kid on the block, which is currently also bloating the forum with wishes and feedback reports.

I cross my fingers that some of the voted wishes will also see daylight in the future and will not just be end-user-dreams.

I would like to mark out these as my “Bug fix focus wishlist”, as what I find critical for the Polyend Tracker project from my point-of-view:

Hey @Mitch When you think we’ll see the Q&A?

Synth Roadmap
1.1 and 1.2 updates are already basically settled on what they will include. I wont share features as they are subject to change until open beta is out but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing the device for a feature that isn’t including on it right now.

As for the wishlist - unless some things there have already been addressed, then new features you’d be voting for consideration on future update wouldn’t be until 1.3 so that could be pretty far away. The first few updates for Synth will focus on bug fixes, stability and expanding on the features already on the device. We might need to redesign how we operate the wishlist so that it works better for everyone but I want to leave that for a dedicated future discussion. I will be sure to inform everyone if any changes are made to how the wishlist is operated and collect feedback first.

CPU and USB
While some small CPU optimizations might be feasible, massive CPU increases shouldn’t be expected for the device, or a new one in a year that has a more powerful processor, etc. For USB from a hardware perspective USB audio is possible but the CPU cost is fairly massive. At this time I think the developers will have to carefully consider if this is feasible at all, but it wouldn’t be a simple addition if possible.

The current focus is getting the bugs fixed in the open beta releases and launching those as official firmware updates. Synth is not preventing Trackers from getting new features. We do feel that based on the feedback bug fixes should be priortized over new features, but not that we are cutting new features entirely.
