Last minute one guys.
In the NES emulator, in the left side of the screen there’s some scaling issue. Over time there are hoizontal lines that build up mostly when there are moving scenes. Going out and in of the emulator again they dissapear and build up again.
In the PT OG the same rom doesnt show these errors.
Steps to Reproduce
Start the emulator and any game.
Watch the left side of the emulation window.
The picture should be moving, still images dont show these lines.
I think the official statement on games was that some work, some don’t. They don’t support the emulator outside of their own homebrew games being compatible. Certainly not the focus of the device, but a fun little bonus. I think there’s a list on here of tested games if I remember correctly
Funny enough it wasn’t the plus vs og that threw me off. I overlooked the “any game” line. I can verify that it does indeed happen with every game I’ve tried so far on the plus. I originally thought it was just a rom or two you were having issues with, and my statement was just based on having read they weren’t going to support the emulator, but yeah, every single game having the same issue might be worth addressing. I was cooking and scrolling through the forum so excuse my incompetence. I just got the plus a day or two ago and hadn’t actually tried playing a game for any actual length of time but did load one up. After dinner I tried loading several on the plus with the same effect, then played a couple of the same titles on the mini and had no issues, so it does seem to be specific to the tracker plus.
Have you had your plus for a while? I’m curious if it’s a recent problem or if it has been an issue since release. I definitely never had problems on the og outside of a couple roms.
Its a bug since release. It may be an incompatible driver with the newer pt+ hardware. Firmware for both devices is essentially the same, so it slipped through testing i guess.
That’s a shame. I love playing games on my tracker mini. I still have an og too which is what got me back into nes games. The plus is pretty sweet, but if it can’t play contra, then Idk, might have to return it. Hopefully we can get a patch. Have a great rest of your weekend Patrick! Make some noise! Hopefully getting some more action on this post will make it happen
Has to be fixed, that’s right. Its not “nice to have if it works”, its advertised and has to be working correctly. Its no diy homebrew boutique crowdfounding thing, its a 1000$ premium device.
Hi @Patrick , thanks for reporting this issue and sorry you’re having problems playing the games. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the issue after 5-10 min with Lawn Mower or your “dvd” screensaver.
So my question is: how much is “some time”? 10 sec? 3 min? 2 hours? Full day?
Can you please provide a video of one of the games which we supply with the device that cause this issue? Did you do anything specific before loading the games? Playing specific project etc.
Sure, i will make a video this evening.
Strange that you cannot reproduce it while other pt+ users can. Crossing fingers that we hit no hardware issue here.
I am on latest beta firmware for a while now so perhaps it changes behaviour.
Regarding waiting time, when there’s movement on the left side of the rendering window, artefacts build up. You will notice it, the more movement there is. And last, i seldom play games but because it works on pt og and catching bugs is not a bad thing, i report whatever i notice.
Thanks for your reply.
You’re right! Sorry for the hassle, it happens in the latest beta and i tagged it with the wrong version number, i apologize! There’s no beta bug list entry where i can move it afterwards, so please do this.
Here is the short vid from lawn mower, no waiting time, left side bars appear.
Ah, and happy to report (i ran out of fuel and quit) and i tested it also with 1.0.3, issue does not appear. Soo…beta bug indeed.
