Do You Want a Tracker+?

How about all 3? :star_struck:

nah, fm it`s just static white noise all over with slightly changes over the tunig. LW nad AM on other hand were always quite unpredictible with al the sounds that were generating by tuning

  1. Beat Slice Wrap, the same as current Beat slice, but when slice is triggered, rather than stopping at the end of the slice, the sample continues playing to the end of the entire sample, this is great for loading a breakbeat and just creating slices at the first snare and first hi hat, it is just a much more convenient version of sample position FX (p) using set positions.

Yes agree entirely. I’ve already created a wish for this and there’s been many requests for it over a number of years. It’s essential for those of us making breakbeat driven music, as many are on the Tracker. As you say the P function is not accurate enough.

Please upvote using link below  hopeful we can get this into the next firmware if enough people request it.

I second these…but I would make a wish for them…they seem pretty damn good to be implemented in the current machine.

Cheers.

Have been thinking a bit on things I miss in most of these dawless setups and in the tracker in particular and one big hole for me, exacerbated by the copious amount of storage of moderns SDs is proper file management and classification/searching capabilities. Adding more storage without proper file management tools is just flawed and will overwhelm pretty quickly.

It would be great to:

  • Be able to manage more than 100 files per folder.
  • Be able to sort the shown files by properties.
  • To be able to tag files, sound properties/characteristics. This opens up a whole world of sample management and sample collections creation.
  • Add “usedInProject” property or tag with specific prefix, populated by the system so you can easily find samples used in specific projects or know in which project a sample has been used.
  • Add sampleBaseNote property and BPM property to the mix as properties for each sample.
  • Be able to filter samples by tags or collections of tags and Boolean operators.
  • Copy/paste/rename at all levels in the file structure.
  • A search/filter sample tool as an alternative to the straight file explorer.

Some of the properties or even system defined tags could link to tracker functionality like the bpm and base note.

A stepping stone on this road might be to provide an external app for the processing side and just add the query capabilities to the tracker.

Superbooth24 News and Rumors

So, here are the latest official Superbooth24 news and rumors about the gear we might or might not see at the event.

Polyend

Polyend is rumored to reveal a new Tracker+ or Tracker 2 at Superbooth24, possibly named “Polyend Wave.”

It will be sad if it is true, because then this post was just a way of testing the waters…to know how right/wrong they were with their development before launch.

That’s a pretty cynical accusation. I asked this question because at the release of Play+ we got a ton of “please do a tracker+” requests and comments, so I thought I’d start a thread because I wanted to know what people wanted.

Makes sense and sorry if it feels cynical and as an accusation. Maybe I didn’t phrase it well and was too short. Let me explain myself a bit better.

As I mentioned in other posts, I understand that you guys have to look for the health of the company and will make decisions on information we obviously don’t have. So asking the question at any point in time is perfectly fine.

But wouldn’t have been nicer to have the input at the start of the development process (if is true that the device will be released)?

And when I say “nicer” I mean nicer for the community as feeling that there is an actual involvement (up to certain degree that you guys obviously decide) in how the products are developed.

So that “sadness” is just about a possible missed opportunity if the input in this post was too late in the dev process to be properly incorporated.

I work in tech and I know how hard is to accommodate certain requests one the base tech stack and architecture has been solidified. I guess that if hardware is also part of the equation, that process become even harder as you are not limited only by software (that could potentially be changed) but also physical limitations set by the hardware.

So my comment comes from an empathic position with you guys and just expressing that maybe this post was a missed opportunity (only Polyend knows).

I hope that this above makes sense. Far from wanting to bring polemics into such peaceful and positive conversation.

This conversation will be more tangible if and when a new product is announced with all its specs. In the meantime, we can only aim to have one conversation and a hundred different personal assumptions.

Companies in general, and certainly Polyend, take input from many sources. One could say that they are probably taking input for a “Traker+” since the moment that the current Tracker had stable hardware specs. This is what any company with a long term plan would do.

The idea of opening a discussion online where we will all discuss together a new product since its early development sounds nice in theory but I don’t think it’s realistic in practice, or even a good idea. And regardless, I bet this discussion here is useful to Polyend, but in the wider context of Backstage, customer support channels, social media, feedback from distributors and sellers, from professional musicians, from the specialized press…

The Tracker+ I’d have thought would have been inevitable giving the resounding success of the Tracker, so it’s not something that would come as a surprise to be honest.
The OG Tracker has been out for what 4 or 5 years now? it has received a healthy and generous amount of updates and the cpu is all but maxed out, an updated product is probably required if folk want to see further improvements and features to the Tracker liine.

At least Polyend interact with their customers on the forum, whether to gather ideas for their products or respond to some constructive criticism.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the team have been upto :eyes:

Okay no problem, thank you for clarifying! Yeah I mean, I can’t get into what our decision making process for the next product was yet but I’m happy to be transparent about it whether that product is the “wave” or “tracker3000” or “tracker++” at a later date.
In hindsight, I probably should have closed this question in January, after our decision on where to go next was made. For me, it was just a little overwhelming the amount and variety of different feedback we received and not as clear as the voter forum (which I find very clear, and there will more wishes granted soon!)

I’m glad I could get my point across.

I agree that probably managing this post in the same way that you guys manage feature requests would have been way better as it will require clarity and accuracy from the user. The issue then is that you would have 100% confirmed that a new tracker was on its way…which I get that you would want to keep as a surprise or just a secret project (for the community and the competition).

I also get how cool would be to have a product already in the launch pad and even if it might be set, keep receiving comments from users that could confirm the path you took. It would be 200% rewarding to read those.

I think that you guys did a good job trying to keep your customer base happy and engaged (even with all the polemics that some people tried to raise around Play+). A lot of things can be misinterpreted and blow easily when you are missing half of the information…more in today’s online environment and with the limitations that written communication has when also, most contributors have English as a second language .

Anyway…it seems that you guys have been cooking something. Exciting times ahead

Peace, from the other side of the world :call_me_hand:

Soo… should we wait for some news at Suberbooth?

The most reasonable gibberish I heard on the topic: to make timeless piece of gear.
Few companies do it though… Deluge comes to mind.

Everything on the tracker is perfect for me. I’d only want, in a perfect world, like more real-time and destructive effects - like crazy out there ones like the good old waveboy ensoniq effect plugins. And oh ensoniq loop-point modulation and a ram shred crash, ha.

Definitely, :100: would want a Tracker +.

My wishlist would be:
Enough sample time for a complete song
Stereo samples
Stereo input
Synth engines
At least 4 knobs

hello everyone, if a tracker + is released, will the tracker continue to receive development and updates or will it be forgotten? Because of the play+, tracker+ and certainly tracker mini+ updates. thank you for your reply.

Anybody know why I can’t make wishes to add those feature requests above in to the wishlist?

You need to make them in Draft Wishes, or if it’s called Wish Draft.
