Now we have 1.4 that allows chords. Can the piano keyboard that appears at the side be swapped out for a chord pad facility. So chords could also be entered using this as well as the piano roll.

Has a wish like this ever been submitted?
It would make sense to end the dilemma between playing chords and eating up tracks and menu diving to save tracks.

I don’t think this wish has been submitted. There have been discussions about chords but on MIDI, not tge audio sequencer. The closest that comes to mind is Make the 16x8 grid a full keyboard layout to input notes
I wonder how this “chord facility” would work.
