What is the problem?
There are three encoders that will see little use for many users, e.g. those who do use an external mixer (Volume), or an external sequencer (Tempo) or an external keyboard (Pitch Bend).
What should this feature achieve?
These knobs can be reassigned, per scene or globally, to a function that is useful to the user.
It would work like this:
- global configuration for the 3 encoders in Menu β Systems Settings β Customize Encoders
- [default] - the default function of the encoder, the name of the option would indicate what that is, e.g. βVolume (default)β. Itβs confusing to be able to map Volume to the Pitch Bend encoder, so letβs not to that
- [macro] - new macros C4-C6. Macros have a fixed mapping to knobs, so C4 is always mapped to the volume knob
- [synth X volume] - have a dedicated volume knob for each synth, yay!
- per scene configuration in Menu β Scene Settings β Customize Encoders
- [global] (default value) whatever is selected in the systems settings
- [macro]
- [synth X volume]
Now the macros menu would also feature entries for Macros 4-6:
- these work just like C1-C3
- if a macro is not currently mapped to an encoder, the title gets a suffix β(inactive)β, but it is still possible to edit the macro normally
Simplified versions of that wish can omit scene level settings, or even just make available Synth 1-3 volume and not macros at all.
