Make Effect and Mixer Parameters accessible for Macros and Modulations

What is the problem?

Effect and Mixer Parameters are not available in Macros and Modulation targets.

What should this feature achieve?

Modulating effect and mixer parameters offers a lot of exciting possibilities for sound design, because the Synth would be more like a modular:

  • panning effects
  • envelope-following for effects (because effect parameters would, hear me out, follow the actual envelope that controls the synthesizer’s sound), like more reverb or faster modulation as the filter opens
  • having macros that move sounds further into a reverb space
  • modulating LFO rates
  • ducking reverb and delay

Obviously also nice for Macros (including Velocity and AT).

How to deal with polyphony: Since synths are often use polyphonically, there are be cases where there is more than one source for a modulation. Envelopes and velocity are polyphonic, LFOs can be, too. So it is important to define which envelope (or LFO) takes precedence. A new menu entry in Scene might make this selectable between [first note] and [last note], but without configuration [last note played] is a good default for most cases. This is obviously not a problem for Macros, because there only ever is one encoder per macro.

Are there any workarounds?

No

here’s a Wish for panning

Any references to other products?

Pigtronix Cosmos is a modulated reverb, if this wish were implemented, that kind of sound would be achievable on the synth.

Another good one @Lizard-of-Oz! Thanks for taking the time

FYI; the LFOs are indeed polyphonic providing you have the Retrigger set to “Note”.
