I have an OG Tracker, Play (sold), Play+, and Synth.
The reason why I keep buying more Polyend products is they’re continuously supporting/enhancing all of their devices. It is an objective fact that they have outstanding support for their flagship devices.
They keep piling on features and crushing bugs. It’s actually hard to keep up with all the betas.
Can you point me to that bug so i can have a look at it myself, as i have not experienced this? Then i‘ll gladly see what i can do, to get this resolved.
I guess this is unrelated to just how Trackers in general handle multiple notes right? That they spread them across armed tracks?
I‘m guessing you have tried the common approaches to see what could cause this? Like:
Use a different power source or cable to rule out any weird power fluctuations or faulty power bricks. You could try powering it via a powerbank, a computer or even a phone charger.
Try a different sd card, in case there is an issue there
While these sound like odd suggestions. Power fluctuations can cause weird software behaviour.
I‘m not saying it’s not possible there aren‘t any software related crashes. These can happen but tend to be hard to nail down without proper reproduction steps. And the more time that has to be consumed trying to reproduce an issue, the less time there is to fix those issues in a timely manner.
If you can, please point me to that post and i‘ll gladly reprimand them.
I totally get that and there is nothing wrong with that. But there‘s a fine line between being constructive and critical and just ranting - which is all i‘m trying to say.
It‘s totally ok to say that you are not satisfied with how the device works because i‘m experiencing issue X/Y and Z. Or because you are experiencing bugs because this happens when i do that. But often people just rant without providing what exactly the issue is and that doesn‘t help anybody and won‘t get issues resolved for anyone.
And yes, even Polyend admitted that they handled things not ideally in the past, but i think i would say they are striving to do better and have done so since then. Synth has seen an initial badge of updates. Play received theirs and i‘m certain we will see updates for the Tracker line next - as was pointed out by @Patrick at the beginning of this topic - before the two of us started rambling
Everyone is entitled to feel however they want to feel, but no one is entitled to say what they want to say, however they want to say it. There are ways of expressing frustrations that are constructive and encouraging to engage with, and ways that are disruptive. It discourages people to engage and slows down getting to a solution, because now we have to moderate the comment.
Doing that stuff is the last thing us Mods want to do. We so much rather spend the time we have on helping test your bugs, and answering your questions.
I don’t think we are entitled to say that Polyend is a shitty company. I believe we are 100% entitled to think or feel that way. We are very much encouraged to engage here in a constructive way to help resolve the issues that are making someone feel that way. This isn’t facebook or reddit. I really don’t believe that we are entitled to come here and disrespect Polyend in their own community in rude and vulgar manners.
They regularly release firmware updates. As a matter of fact they just released firmware for Synth and Tracker+. Also watch the beta forum for new updates early.
Four long sets with tracker mini and play+ and synth and never froze. Nothing. The only thing is in Play+ with some settings on a synth. I have five polyend products and it was very very rare a failure. You need to repair your device. I don’t think it’s a software issue, I think is a hardware one because I don’t experience many bugs. I use tracker mini daily at work on the couch, etc, everywhere. And play+ and synth extensively. In fact 90% of my music is with that products and I do it everyday. So I guess you have a faulty unit.
About the bugs in Play+. My Play+ until now it doesn’t have bugs except the synth parameters bugs.
Small fixes would be welcome, it’s true, but as it is, the tracker+ is very playable, I’ve made dozens of tracks since I got it. I’m having fun with it and I’m not a polyend fanboy. The notion of abandonware is weird, I took a machinedrum out of the closet and it’s still playable. But I think some users need their dopamine shot with each update
Wow. The mods are crazy here! Fighting customers, rWe are not QA. We are customers, why do we have to report bugs for basic functionality? In the stable firmware! Makes no sense!
The Tracker+ does crashes a LOT! I am extremely surprised by the 3 moderators here saying that its usable and some are making albums with it! WHAT???
Try to make a song using the synths and a bunch of samples, go a bit further a 4 in the floor, it will crash at some point before you finish!
Im a software developer myself, its crazy how unstested software has been rushed into production with the Tracker+. I trully hope they change this or they will sink the Polyend ship, customers ,myself included, will never come back after such a bad experience!
For me, I have had three different Tracker+ devices and all of them have had a freezing issue where the device just locks up for about three to five minutes. Sometimes it’s during the startup, sometimes when I leave the note view to another view like the mixer or file browser. It’s always at the most inconvenient times and it just stresses me out.
I can’t believe I sold and repurchased Tracker+ three times and this issue still exists. This includes using the original SD card and my own very high quality SD card. I wish I could just see what the problem was, is it a weird wav file? Too many folders? Too many samples? I have no idea.
And the 100 file limit per folder is annoying. I don’t understand how one man on the Dirtywave M8 project is able to bring a better file browsing experience with even more limited resources.
And I have never seen a beta last six months on the same version number before. I wish Polyend would push out beta changes faster because we’re not even beta testing anymore at this point.
I am active on a number on communities and I have been steering people away from the Tracker+. It’s an awesome device, but the bugs/freeze ups are not worth it so I end up recommending other sampler devices.
I guess I will have to sell my Tracker+ for a third time.
P.S. While I am complaining, I will add that having to clone patterns just to have track mutes in song mode is not fun.
Kinda weird how you guys immediately flagged my posts for being ‘negative’ and whatever blanket adjective, because you, as unpaid mods for polyend desire to censor other customers.
but bro here is ACTUALLY contributing nothing but negativity and indecency with this post and you guys let it ride no problem
I don’t see the fighting you see, I see they respond to someone who has a history of not being constructive.
Stable firmware can still have bugs.
Well, some people have cleary made albums and performed live with it. Just because you and others have issues with doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others.
The bug reports already exist. Look up the word “freezes” or “freezing” or “freezes”. I can’t figure out a way to reproduce it because it happens randomly on different screens and with unknown timing. Sometimes it’s the startup, sometimes it’s five minutes in. Sometimes, it’s an hour later. No point in making another bug report when ten of them already exist considering I have no new information to contribute.
It would be cool if there was a utility to run a system diagnostic on the Tracker+ and an integrity check for the sd card. Or a debugging/logging mode where I can see the timing stuff so I can actually make an effort to track down what the issue is.
Give me the tools, Polyend. I can fix it. And let me know if you guys are hiring. I saw that the website Jobs • Polyend no longer exists.
Edit: I think there is a trackerLog folder which I will try checking out next time it freezes.
I don’t see the fighting you see, I see they respond to someone who has a history of not being constructive.
A history of complaining about bugs and crashes on the Tracker+ . Which is very disagreeable here, in the polyend forums. Do I need to start posting in the other topics with fluff to get your approval?
Stable firmware can still have bugs.
wild! it’s not ‘stable firmware’ when it crashes all the time randomly and has bugs.
Well, some people have cleary made albums and performed live with it. Just because you and others have issues with doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others.
You can’t make this up! Look at my previous post above!!
They always counter with:
“My Tracker+ is just fine”
“Lots of people make full albums and perform live!”
“I bought another one!”
None of these counter ‘arguments’ address the issue people bring up with the buggy software. Just trying to discredit users who have have problems!
But only stating your issues in threads like this also doesn’t help, it doesn’t take that much to join the thread(s) and say that you are experiencing the same thing.
Maybe it’s even a hardware issue rather than software?
I do think Polyend should be a bit more transparent and forward when it comes to firmware updates, but when threads like these pop up here and on Reddit it’s a pattern of users who just repeat the same thing over and over again.
There is a difference between being constructive and just going “this doesn’t work”, can’t you see that?
For you, yes. Others apparently aren’t having the same issues. I’m not saying you don’t experience those bugs, but plenty of people seem to have fully working machines for the most part.
Bugs can appear in stable firmware because the developers/testers didn’t think to test certain things. I often use VCV Rack, it has stable releases, and sometimes people notice bugs within it. Should the developer just say “Somewhat buggy release”?
I have never said that you or others aren’t experiencing those things, but the fact is that others are not.
@fulhjort Can you please vote on the diagnostic mode feature suggestion? It’ll help everyone become better beta testers, especially if there is a more detailed logging mode. Thank you. Here it is: Diagnostic mode
