Tracker Mini I/O external effects pedals

After consuming a ton of information about the the Tracker Mini it seems like it would be a great tool for my purposes. I understand that it is intended to be a self contained workstation, but after seeing this wonderful video it got my thinking about external effects options. I have two Source Audio pedals that I would like to use with the Mini, but I’m not sure our the routing would work or if it’s even possible with the Mini’s I/Os. Could anyone enlighten me as to whether this would be doable?

Thanks!

Hey there! Glad you like that video I did.

You can use the Mini the same way I did with the OG, it has the same I/Os anhyway. What you need for this kind of setup is a way to record your output after the effects.

If you want to do the dual output trick I did, make you sure use only mono sounds before panning them full right or left. Also if you use the internal fx and or the stereo widening on the master it will make things weird.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. I think you hit on one of my main concerns and I realize I wasn’t as clear about what I was trying to accomplish as I should have been. So would it be possible for the Mini to send the audio out to the fx chain then record the result as a new sample? I imagine it can’t play a pattern and record at the same time. Thank gain.

That is correct… you can’t send audio out and sample it back in at the same time. This is solved internally via rendering.

You can however send MIDI out to another device and record that output back into the tracker realtime.

So ideally you probably have a capture device (fieldrecorder, ipad or something) outside that can capture whatever you want to run through the pedals. you can then either move those samples back onto the sd card or just play it back and record it via the tracker again.

You are correct that the Mini cannot be playing back and recording at the same time. So you could record your output to a DAW and then import that back into the Mini, or send your DAW to the Mini Input and record the playback from the DAW.

Edit; Didn’t realize this was your first thread on Backstage. A warm welcome to you and good to have you here
