This is fantastic. Great to see PE listening to the community.
Hello dear Polyend team.
You did it! Now the Tracker Mini makes sense and, above of all, a lot of fun. Solved intuitively and with a little thought and workarounds, there are no unfulfilled wishes. At least for now So keep it up, I have a new favorite instrument today! Ps. Everything runs nice and stable!
Iām new here, so apologies if this is an irrelevant question. Are there plans to bring this feature to the Tracker+ or is it not needed on that device due to a different workflow?
itās not really needed as the Tracker+ has lots of buttons for inputting notes already.
Nice touch making the new note input work on the instrument edit mode too with the same combo (shift+note)ā¦ makes so easy to edit the patch and try the sounds without the need to go back and forth between instrument and pattern screens. It also works on the synths āEdit Patchā screen!
Tested it so-far no issuesā¦
It would be great if we get an similar option previewing the synts or samples, but that will most probably a challenge
itās only 8 notes, but I wonder if pushing another button could trigger it to increase or lower a half step for flats and sharps.
the big +and - could do a whole octave, and the small +and - do a half step?
Create the top 8 pads into C,D,E,F,G,A,B,and C and then make the big + and - key into an octave shift up or down, and the smaller + and - the half step up or down.
I realize that this could only work in step sequence mode.
It would be nice to be able to program chord for each pads as well!
To do that I would pick all the root note into the square with the scroll wheels and then trigger the chord option mode and then use the scroll wheels to pick type of chord.
Wooooooooooe, scale per project!!! Can you set now random note and the randomised notes are within the scale project?. Thanks. Buah, greeeat!
Yeah you should.
Yeah! So this is a solution for people that couldnāt get PERC inst previews and want to do more sound design stuff. I think this was a wish too, this one grants a more than a few wishes so weāll have to review that.
Thanks, guys. It means a lot to me. Youāve sped up the note input process by 10x.
Iām trying to play some chopped samples via beat slice mode which triggers from C2 upwards. Even though I have those notes/that octave selected in note mode, if I press the C2 note, it triggers C5? It shows all the notes for the C2 octave on screen but when I trigger them, theyāre in octave 5?
The main reason for me to be excited about this was to play beat slice slices, but it doesnāt seem to work with that? Unless Iām being a dumbass?

You found a bug for sure, thanks! Looks like C1 or C2 is registering as C5 in beatslice mode. I think that would be an easy fix but do you mind logging a bug report?
No prob, will do!
Update : Iāve tested a bit more extensively today on a new project.
This time I tested recording and noticed something Iām not sure of.
Input with the top buttons and selection of range and scale both work perfectly as expected and let you preview the synth/sample sounds very easily before tracking them.
However, not sure if I am missing something, if it is intentional, temporary or just a bug I encounter
Actually, I still canāt really live record with this input mode. As soon as I hit rec while the sequence is playing, the cursor stops at the position it was when i hit it. So for me right now in this beta, there is only per step recording and no notion of live recording on the timing I hit the keys.
I know thereāve been two distinct wishes about alternate note entry mode and live-recording directly on the mini. Should I assume only the first of the two has been implemented so far ?
Hit Shift
+ Rec
for live recording
Ooooh ! Thanks will try ! But shouldnāt this be the default behaviour ? (Without shift ?)
I was most expecting this to live record when hitting REC while the sequence is playing and stay in step mode when the sequence isnāt.
This is most likely just for historical / legacy continuity
Historically just hitting Rec on Trackers has always put you in step sequencing mode (as in: the pattern doesnāt move).
Which is probably why Polyend has followed this tradition.

Yes I thought about it, but still it should be considered an exception on this as the traditional way would still work while the sequence isnāt playing.
And I know Polyend has already made a lot, including breaking with traditions, to make trackers more accessible (like horizontal view). Maybe could end up as an option in the settings if it really feels like it would upset the purists
I think an option would be a good choice. As you say not to upset purists (like me ).
The one reason why i personally like that behaviour (besides the history), is that most of the times i may listen to a pattern in regular play modeā¦ and then quickly switch to Rec mode to fine tune some steps and donāt want to live record.
