Synth Engine Development Possibilities

I’m new to Polyend and pleased to be lucky enough to buy a Synth!

Plenty to learn already; here’s the question…

What other Synth Engines could/should be developed to increase the pool of eight currently on the Synth?

I would love to see an Engine based on Additive Synthesis; layering and modulating sine waves and adding noise to produce complex oscillators.

Maybe call it SINS
SIne Noise Synth

Please feel free to add further suggestions!

The more the merrier :vulcan_salute:

I’m waiting for the sample bases engine, perfect with possibilities to add up to 7 samples on each root note

You mean like a rompler?

Sounds fun; is it possible to use our own samples with the WAVS and GRAIN engines in the Synth right now?

more like pigments

Or like Wave Sequencing like the Korg Wavestate or WaveStation?

What’s the experience with Pigments, I haven’t used a PC or Mac for many years…

What is pigments?

From ARTURIA…

Pigments

Polychrome software synthesizer

Pigments is a software VST with the power to create any sound, from the best mix-ready modern presets to deep custom sound design. Explore every shade of synthesis and make your wildest sonic fantasy a full-color reality, whatever your style.

Thanks for the vid link @cjclip :+1:

The blurb sounds good but doesn’t shed much light on how it works though!

Never seen that before, but I guess such engine would required lots of CPU consumption?

Physical modelling is CPU intensive too hence the two voice ‘limit’ with PMD?

Maybe any Synth engine is possible within certain limitations?

Yes.

I’m by no means trying to kill a great discussion about possible synth engines. But remember that if there is anything you’d actually want to se happen, creating a Wish is the way to propose new ideas.

And btw: Welcome to backstage, @carousedesign!

I defo need to explore that!
Can’t find which Sample format in the Essentials Manual; will have to look at the Samples already provided on the Micro SD card.
I’m guessing Wav format, Stereo or Mono?
Will have a look and post format soon, unless any of you SynthHeads have the answer?

Thanks @3xm, maybe general discussion here and will make a Wishlist to link to…

So here’s the link for a draft Wishlist:

So, to add to the wish list…

Always loved Hawkwind Live at Stonehenge and the warbles and otherworldly sweeps of the EMS VCS 3.

I’ve been reading this forum for about an year.

Don’t get me wrong, I welcome and I find interesting this discussion about what synths models could be implemented. Also is energizing to see so much brainstorming.

The wishlist idea is a two sided sword… in one side is a great system to read new ideas and… as the time went by, Polyend had implemented some of the most interesting and feasible whises. In the other side, SOME people tend to expected that those wishes must be implemented, and got angry.

With play I saw that story through this year… lots of wishes and hype, then, lots of anger that those wishes werent implemented… and then people started to focuse on the bugs. The thing derailed a bit.

Polyend did a great move on change their comunication approach and firmware release.

Im saying this because you mentioned Pigments and I find it funny . I came from the DAW world… Pigments used to cost 199, now cost 99 I think, and is a BEAST, I dont know how many people and time have taken to be developed, but I dont think that was a small task. I’ve spent months playing with all it’s possibilities.

I’m saying all this because I dont want to see the same cycle repeat. Maybe I’m looking too way ahead , but @cjclip I saw you going a bit, but not too much for that path. Nice to see you now saring your setup with press and Synth. It was inspiring..

Please don’t read this as I want to set a moral groud or to sensure someone. Specially since I dont own the Synth and I’m maybe Im a bit jealous for now .

Cheers you all!
