My mini tracker is connected to a MPX16 sampler. It triggers the pads and it all works fine.
But the sound triggered by midi from the PTM gets all distorted.
Just playing the pads on the MPX16 it all sounds great.
When triggering the pads from another midi device it all works great as well.
So what could it be that makes the PTM distorting all the sounds?
I just saw this…I’m no expert and I probably need more coffee at the moment but, Tracker has TRS type b and the MPX 16 has 5 pin midi Type A which I’m sure you’re probably aware. If your using a polarity flip cable plus the Polyend adapter plus a “5 pin midi cable” to join the two make sure you haven’t mistaken a Roland Din Sync 24 cable for a real midi cable. Just make sure the signal path makes sense in other words. Hope you find a solution.
So I tried a lot of things and noticed that it is only when I used the line in on the tracker the sound gets distorted. As I connect the out from the sampler to a separate input on my mixer the distortion disappeared.
I don’t know why.
If you’re resampling the MPX sampler on the tracker through the line in and splitting the output somewhere else there might be some feedback issue with the audio causing the distortion. You might describe your setup in more detail, in this case, and hopefully others on the forum could offer some suggestions as well.
Well my setup looks like this.
I have a EC4 controling the tracker and the tracker triggering a sound on my MPX16. Line out from the tracker going into my mixer and the sound from the MPX16 is going into the tracker.
As it turns out the distortion only appears when played together. If not played together the sound from the mpx16 sounds perfect through the tracker.
Regarding the input volume it really doesn’t matter. As soon as I can hear the sound it’s distorted.
Another weird thing is that when I turn the knobs on my EC4 the sound from the sampler sounds like an old dirty pot on my guitar amp. And they are not even connected or the same midi channel.
