Randomizer / Blender for Polyend Synth

What is the problem?

Randomizer / Blender - Give us option to randomize parameters in each synth engine to come up with a new sound.

Giving us the option to use how much of each parameter would be best. Like a randomizer matrix page, kinda like how hydrasynth does where it allows us to put whatever amount we want in for each parameter before being randomized.

The Blender option would be like the boss sy-300 where you can randomize and blend any 3 synth / preset sounds together to come up with an interesting scene each time you blend. Basically what it would do is pick 3 synth engines from the different scenes and randomly put them together with random parameters.

What should this feature achieve?

Complete madness and creativity!

Are there any workarounds?

Nope

Any links to related discussions?

No

Any references to other products?

Yeah, hydrasynth, boss sy-300, and tons of other synths that have a randomizer/blender.

You mean a second page for every page of parameters where you can set how much percent this parameter can change?

Isn’t that an awful amount of work setting that up? I mean so much work that you’d want to be able to save that as a preset?

I can see a need to constrain the randomizer so that the majority of results is not silent or otherwise unusable, because that is just a waste of time.

At first I thought this was some kind of morphing, where you get results that are between the patches. Then I did take a look at the SY-300 manual, that this is different:

  • blending: for each oscillator, and for the FX you can select another preset where the parameters are copied from. No randomization involved so far.
  • shuffling: parameters are randomized periodically while you play, and when you like something, you stop, and you can even manually go back through the last couple of random patches.

You can shuffle without blending, and blend without shuffling, or combine the two.

That sounds like a great idea, because that way you can copy stuff between presets, too.

The main units are the pages here, or do you think it makes sense to copy individual envelopes, LFOs, and modulations, too.

That might also be nice for FX, not so much for the mixer, though.

I’d like to add my name to the list of users requesting any kind of patch randomization features to the synth engines - the more the better really :upside_down_face: I find patch randomizer functions on synths highly inspiring and a great way to take you off on some amazing creative journeys that you wouldn’t have ever had come to otherwise. A few of my favourite hardware synths and/or editors for those synths, and indeed some software synths have these options and I they really add a LOT to what you can come up with creatively - a couple of recent hardware synths I’ve been enjoying randomization options on would be Opsix and Hydrasynth … but also my TRACKER is probably the most awesome tool I own for (sequencing) randomization … so THANKYOU for that, and I hope you can hook us up with some RANDOSynth goodness in time … :slightly_smiling_face: x
