I have a Polyend Play + and Polyend Synth, both connected to a Behringer Xenyx 1002SFX. I have an FX send going to a Zoom Multi-stomp MS-70CDR+ and back into one of the stereo line ins (using unbalanced cables). The Polyend Play+ is beautifully quiet, however, there is significant statis noise with the Polyend Synth when I turn up the FX pot for the channel. I’m assuming this is ground noise (I assume this from the fact that switching to balanced cables between the Synth and the mixer didn’t fix the issue). Since neither device (the mixer or synth) have a grounding terminal, does any one have any suggestions as to how to eliminate the ground noise on the Synth?
Try to use different sources of power, in my experience as sound tech in a club I found out that sometimes gear makes loops (even though they’re shielded) when plugged to the same power source as their mixer.
I had the same problem last week when I got my synth. If I plugged it through the same usb hub than my focusrite (both of them are well insulated, but my other gear was not)
I plugged my instruments to a wall and the pc and focusrite to other and done! Noise gone.
Hope it helps
I opened a thread here regarding USB whining noise on polyend synth:
Maybe you mean this?
I’ll definitely try this. It’s not ideal, because I would like to have everything connected to my USB hub and only have a single USB cable out for power, but that’s what it takes, definitely will try it. Thank you.
Not quite. The issue I’m having is solely when using the FX send function of the mixer. If I turn down the FX send gain, no noise. It seems specific to the Polyend Synth and Behringer Xenyx 1002SFX FX gain. I will try yellow_13’s suggestions of separating the units power supply to see if that helps.
