Hi.
I have just ordered a Polyend MESS
have looked about but i dont know what cables i will need to hook it up to my Tracker (OG) i also have a mixing desk so i could hook it up to the AUX ? is that the best way?
do i need midi or a spliter cable for TRS ? i see left and right at the back.
What does it use a SD card for ?
Hi and welcome to the community!
Polyend MESS needs the following cables:
2x mono (ts) 6.3 for the output. If you want to hook it up to the aux of the tracker, you need a 2x mono (ts) to 1x stereo (trs)
For the input, it depends on the device you are going to run through. MESS has a stereo in (trs) 6.3, so for most use cases with stereo devices, you need either a 6.3 stereo (trs) to 2x 6.3 mono (ts) adapter or cord. For instruments, wich are mono, you can use a mono (ts) 6.3 instrument cable. Dont forget to configure it in the input settings.
Midi in and out are trs 3.5, input can be either type a or b, output has to be type b.
You can use a trs to din or trs to trs, both will work.
SD card is used for saving presets and to provide the workspace folder, like on the trackers. Nice thing, you can turn it off and your current patch is preserved even if you forgot to save.
And last, hereβs my typical studio setup with MESS because you asked:
MESS input 6.3 trs to 2x 6.3 ts adapter in 2x channels multicore to the patchbay.
MESS output 6.3 ts multicore to the patchbay, too.
You can now either patch it inline as insert if you send channels to a bus group and patch it to the input of MESS, output to Bus in, or configure as send effect, patch MESS input to aux send and output to aux return. Use the channel aux knob to mix the dry and wet.
In most cases you want to run it as an insert effect, device-MESS-output. MESS has also a mix knob, so you can blend the dry signal if needed.

Pay attention to this adapter configuration above, headphone splitter (typical trs to 2x trs) wont work!
To connect the output of MESS to the stereo aux in of the tracker:
Hope that helps!
