I’m a Play+ owner since last year and I have some stuff that I want to record in my DAW.
I normaly use a Scarlett 414 Focusrite as the main input of sound in my computer, but now I want to save audio via USB using my DAW, Reaper. I have a Samsung Book-SekS55USLSR and Windows 11.
I tried to find a tutorial on YouTube about that, but was impossible for me.
Can anyone tell me about how to record several channels via USB from the Polyend Play+ to Reaper?
This is only a quarter answer, but maybe it’ll help you in the right direction.
First: You need to connect the Play+ directly to your computer, not via the Focusrite thing. Depending on your operating system, you might need to set up the Play+ as a USB audio device on a system level. As I’m on Linux, where these things fortunately “just work”, I can’t really help with this. Best thing I can point to is some of the USB audio posts. When we know which OS you use, we can probably be of more help in this regard.
Second: I’ve never used Reaper. But according to the Reaper manual, Chapter 3, you can select which input device/channel to use for recording to specific tracks (I see a screenshot of this on page 57).
The Play+ will show up as a device with 28(!) channels to pick from. You can see what the channels represent in the Play+ manual page 214. Note that it says that synths are on channels 19+20 and that 21-24 are reserved. But in fact, these 6 channels are the stereo channels for each of the 3 synths.
When you’ve figured it out, it’s all about setting up a range of tracks in Reaper and selecting the correct inputs for each to record from.
I’ve created a tutorial a while ago, on how you can get USB multitrack recording working on windows. Check here:
Hope that helps to get your closer to the goal. Sadly i don’t have Reaper so i can’t help you with that part, but adding multiple channels in there shouldn’t be that problematic afterwards.
Your video was very very usefull. I spend some minutes to configurate everything and for a long time it doesn’t work. Finally I could make both devices, Play+ and Scarlett work, so now I can send audio directly from Play+ to the computer via USB and record 14 stereo channels and also send audio via the Scarlett, for example my voice from the microphone I’m very very happy. Thank you so much!
Well, it seems to work but sudenly, the outputs desapeared and I can’t record anything. It’s a bit frustraiting. The computer doesn’t work well and seems to be overheated. I think the Matrix needs a lote of procesing.
Ok. After a bit of pain I find the problem. As you say at the video, we have to desactivate the sources that we don’t use at the “windows sound”. I did that and it seems to work propertly
