Pattern mode: mismatching track mutes

Although I surely do welcome the additional 8 MIDI tracks of the Tracker+, I’m not a huge fan of how it’s currently implemented in Pattern Mode.

When it was just 8 tracks, you could always mute what was currently on screen by pressing Shift, no matter where the cursor was. I myself have a strong preference for the 8 track view, where each below-screen button aligns perfectly with each track above. Muting a track, or several tracks at once, just meant pressing the buttons directly below each track - couldn’t be easier!

But now that there are more tracks to the right, the below-screen buttons start mismatching. Here I’m shifting one track over to reveal the first MIDI track, after which the below-screen buttons all change to accommodate tracks 9 through 16, and the buttons no longer affect the tracks directly above.

Not only are the buttons no longer aligned below the correct tracks, I can’t even mute tracks 6, 7 and 8 that are currently visible on screen, without first moving the cursor back. So that means that whenever you want to mute a track, you first need to hunt to find the cursor.

I think this would be much better if the 8 MIDI tracks were just all on a separate page that you can toggle between by pressing Pattern (preferred), or when you cursor to the right of track 8, all 8 tracks shift over to the MIDI tracks and you start on the left again (second best option, because it takes more taps), like this:

This way, the buttons below would always operate on what you actually see on screen, and in 8 track view always match the exact tracks above.

Sounds like a very legit request! Would be great if you could start a wish for this request. Once the initial wish is created, I can move over the content here into the wish.

Sound like a good plan?

I will do so! Do I understand correctly that I need to make it into a draft wish first, which then possibly gets promoted to the wish list by the forum moderators?

That is indeed correct :+1:
