Moving hundreds of MESS presets to open up presets 1-128 for MIDI recall

I love the MESS!

And now I’ve hit a problem.

I use a Walrus Audio Canvas Clock to set tempos and as a master preset-changer across multiple pedals at once. Using Canvas Clock’s language, I can create a “Song” and in it set the tempo and call presets via midi for multiple devices in one go. Whenever I call up that Song, all my effects are “autoset” to whatever presets I’ve named in that song (each effect runs in it’s own midi channel).

But the Canvas Clock can only call presets 1–128 – and those are filled with the “shipping” presets.

I do not want to “destroy” the presets shipped with the MESS. But I would like to move them to a different range of preset numbers.

Duplicating them one by one to new preset address spaces seems like a long, slow, and error prone approach.

QUESTION: Has anyone solved this problem: That is, how to bulk re-address the existing presets to a new range, so as to open preset slots 1-128 ??

Thanks in advance!

I had an idea - possibly a feature request…

If there could be a way to take the 1000 available preset slots and put them into Banks of 128 presets. That way there could be a preloaded Bank of 128 presets for new users to have out of the box.

But then have Banks that users might load and focus in different ways…

Bank A - 1-128 preloaded presets.

Bank B - 1-128 personal presets for drums…

Bank C - 1-128 personal presets for drones…

Bank D - 1-128 personal presets for when I play in rock bands

Bank E - 1-128 personal presets for voice.

You get the idea…

What do you think?

So, I added an official Feature Request that addresses this issue. The proposed feature idea is to implement Preset Banks.

Please pake a look at what I propose – and vote for it if this seems like a good idea to you, too!
