More modulation destinations in FAT please

I’d really like to be able to do more with FAT’s modulation options - it seems you only have two destinations that can be controlled – envelopes directly linked to amp and filter, LFO linked only to fatness and filter. It would be nice to be able to control noise within a patch, for example.

What is the problem?

Not a problem, it’s a feature request.

What should this feature achieve?

More sophisticated sound control for a synth engine.

Are there any workarounds?

Not that I’ve seen, Macro can increase/decease a value but it doesn’t automate it or link it to anything else, you have to twiddle your knob.

Any links to related discussions?

I see a few wishes for improved modulation in various contexts.

Any references to other products?

Many analogue synths with modulation matrix setups, most of the cheaper virtual analogues such as Modal Craft.

More options are definitely welcome. It should have a “proper” mod page, and I’d like to see Fatness, Timbre (for PWM), Brightness and Resonance as additional targets.

I also noticed FAT has no filter tracking, in other engines (e.g. ACD and VAP) this is a fixed modulation target on the filter page.

Yes, some synth engines are definitely lacking in mod capabilities. Kinda bummer…

In fairness I want modulation of mixer levels or effect levels as well - I see the mixer as an inherent part of ‘Synth’ rather than three synths in a box, same way you don’t think of each VCO as a separate synth on a MiniMoog/clone, but I suspect that might overload the machine in some circumstances so I can see why it’s not there. Being able to modulate or automate the mixer would give a behaviour a little like a Prophet VS if you played stacked engines.

Agreed. Here’s the wish for that:
