Mini MIDI Keyboard

Hey got my invite to by but forgive my stupid question but was is the difference either the usb cable as in function, don’t know if I am better waiting for usb c to usb c again. Also does this ship to Scotland?

Hi Peter.

No difference between the two - only the cable that they ship with. I just ran out of the c to c cables, that’s all. The remaining units will all have an a to c cable included.

Scotland shipping shouldn’t be a problem.

I had one printed last week and it fits great! It was $30 to print from a local company and I picked it up so no shipping if anyone is looking for a ballpark figure. There’s a one piece .stl model and a two piece model for smaller baseplates.

I think you guys may be talking about 2 different .stl files - just to clarify in case anyone else wants to know…
The A5 frame files are for the carrier that fits an A5 sized binder to hold the assembled Tracker + KB1 + pry bar.

The case upper and lower files are the actual KB1 outer shells for anyone who wants to tinker or build their own, and will require some threaded inserts.

correct, I was talking about the actual keyboard case/housing, not the A5 binder insert. I print my own stuff so it’s kinda free for me (not really, but mostly really ) and I like to tinker with designs, print in multicolor, add stuff…

Just got mine. Works great, thank you!

Got mine, works great! The edges of the removal tool are sharp, and I have soft skin. What’s a quick and easy way to round the edges?

Those were deburred from the fabricator, but yeah, the edges can be pretty crisp.

Some 500 grit sandpaper (or even a nail file) should do the trick.

Just go mine, it works perfectly! The Texas pin is a nice touch :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyone here from germany who ordered one? I need help.

Mine seems to be stuck at customs in Cologne. UPS is the worst customer support in the world! After several useless attempts to find out what the problem is, I got an email from UPS to not contact them anymore! I mean What?!?

Delivery should have been on February, 6th!

any tips what i could do?

Just sent you an email about this.

looks like it works fine with alluminum edition? thats the only mini i have and id definitely like to get one of these for it if i could; i think it would be a big usability upgrade for me

also i wonder if the kb1 case could be modded slightly to better fit the allum? maybe even replace it with like a pcbway machined casing in the same alluminum? i guess it depends how cramped it really is in there and how much the mounting adds internally; also i guess allum would be an issue for any possible contact with pcb plus like ble signal issues (i think it has ble?)

anyways glad you were able to test this i hope you will keep making them for a while ill try to signup for order soonish; valentines was a bit expensive :stuck_out_tongue:

bless you for all your efforts on this! )*

I do plan on designing an aluminum enclosure to fit the anniversary model, just not sure when that will happen yet. And yes, it will need a non metallic ‘window’ for the bluetooth signal.

As more people get their hands on these, I wanted to point out that there is a troubleshooting list at the bottom of the front page of the PM website - https://pocketmidi.com and I will do my best to keep it updated. And there is a product disclaimer link in the footer describing the hand-assembled nature of the KB1.

I am actively working on the Configurator BLE web app. I’m not ready to post a link here yet, but if any of you developers (Sandroid?) want to weigh in on the functionality or features just PM or email me sean@pocketmidi.com - here’s a sneak peek

I’ve never been more bummed out to see something sold out. I was hoping to get myself one for my birthday which I guess is in 2hrs. Are you making another batch? Id love to get one. I got distracted and missed out!

I’d like to apologize to all the admins here for making this the unofficial Pocket Midi comms center, but it all started here, so this is kinda where it lives :innocent:

Regarding:

The first batch of 50 had some pent-up demand(after 2 yrs of promises), but after all the sales, it looks like about 25% of those who signed up or showed interest actually bought one. This tells me that I’ll need a similar number of 200 to justify building another batch of 50. I plan on adding some kind of interest meter on the PM site in the near future and will announce it here when it’s up.
