Is anyone else having trouble getting the MIDI pad mapping feature to work?! As I understand it from the updated manual, I should be able to have an external midi controller’s keys automatically mapped to the grid. So for example if I set one channel to play chords in a certain key, I should be able to then use a single midi note from an external controller to play individual chords (as they are mapped out on the pads). So I connected my Digitakt 2 to synth and it sequences/plays notes fine via midi. Then when I turn midi pad mapping on in the new menu (to either white keys or all) no notes play.
Hopefully I’m missing something here but if not, this new feature doesn’t seem to be working.
Steps to Reproduce
Connect external midi controller (digitakt 2 in my case)
Set DT to play midi on ch 1
Confirm notes playing
Set pad mapping to either white keys or all, then no notes play.
Hey @lance.grucela, sorry for the late reply. I’ve just created a video explaining how pad mapping works. In case you still need help, maybe that will do the trick.
Thanks very much for the video explaining how this function works @Sandroid. The end part showing the importance of aligning the “root” note (for the pad mapping) was the issue causing my initial attempt to fail. I was able to adjust the octave on the Digitakt to get it working after watching your video. Thanks!
