Tonight i was doing some radio sampling and, since i planned to use this for a noisey project, i was pushing the gain pretty hard while bouncing through stations. At one point while previewing a high-gain sample i’d taken, the unit crashed. Power cycling it seemed to work, however when powered it was in a frozen state. Manually turned it off, and i cannot get it to turn back on. No power applied from any source seems to help. I pulled the SD card and upgraded to the most recent OS, and that did nothing either.
Hey @chaorta, sorry you’re having to deal with this issue.
The first place I would start is mounting your SD card to a computer with the adapter that came with the Tracker. In the root folder, please move the “workspace” folder to somewhere on your computer. Please be sure to move the folder and not just copy it. We basically want to back up that folder but remove it from the Tracker SD card.
After you’ve done that, try booting up the Tracker, and if you’re successful, create a new project to rebuild your workspace folder.
I can’t promise that will work but it’s always a good place to start if ever you are having issues when booting the Tracker. Basically the workspace folder is the autosave/last snapshot of your project. The thing is that this autoloads when the Tracker is booted, so if ever it manages to get corrupted, it can cause issues when booting the Tracker.
If that doesn’t work, then send a word to support at the link below and you can pretty much copy/paste what you described here.
Keep your eye on this thread as well. Lot’s of very helpful folks here in the community.
Thanks for the response. I see neither a “root” folder nor a “workspace” folder on the card. The closest thing i see is in Firmeware, a “turnon” file, which i honestly dont recall noticing before.
It does not. When the card is removed and the power button is pressed there is no change, nothing happens. I also tried swapping SD cards to the factory supplied original, and that didn’t work either.
Yes, i tried different cards, that didn’t work, it’s not the card. The reset button is interesting, i didn’t know about, i’ll try that when i’m back at the house.
Hitting the reset button with a sewing needle does nothing. No change. It may be hard to brick, but i think i would recommend keeping the gain under max when sampling off the radio nonetheless cuz it’s looking more likely that i managed to
You know, i suppose it’s possible that the unit is fine but something in the power connector or circuit (USB power port for example) burned out, and the gain-at-100% is just a coincidence too. I have no idea why thought would be, i was using a pretty standard power brick that i’ve used with all of my Polyend gear with no issue when this happened.
The other thing, i guess, is that i purchased it advertised as brand new from the Official Polyend Reverb Shop at what i found to be a massively discounted price during the sale a few months ago, so if nothing else i should easily be under warranty.
Two part update: One, my Tracker+ is on its way back to Polyend for service and Two, i was able to replicate the crash on my Tracker. Basically just create a new project, go to sample recorder, choose radio, set the gain at 100% and poke through the stations. It will eventually crash the unit. Thankfully the Tracker didn’t brick up like the T+, but something is definitely amiss.
I’ve also made video at some point in another post, scanning through frequencies like a madman and wasn’t able to crash the device. Given - i didn’t crank the gain up all the wy though. To this day it remains a mystery why some devices seem to crash when scanning wildly.
At this point i would say it’s part of the Tracker Lore
