Have a loop option for cropping in the Sample Editor

What is the problem?

When using the Crop Effect in the Sample Editor, it is often difficult to determine if you’ve cropped the sample properly without having the ability to loop it

What do you want to achieve?

Have the ability to set the start and end points in the sample editor and hear what that sounds like as a loop.

It just so happens there is this empty button between Undo and Apply that could be a latching loop button (off by default to maintain current and expected functionality), but would allow the user to turn on a looping functionality that once the playback via the pads hits the End point, it would continue playback at the start point.

Are there any workarounds?

Currently no. The closest you can get is to set the start/end points in Sample Playback → Forward loop, and do your best to replicate the start and end in the Sample Editor, but it’s not very reliable.

Any links to related discussions?

Any references to other products?

Polyend Tracker Forward Loop function. Any DAW (Cubase, Ableton) that lets you set a start/end point of the sequence and loop it.

Hey @Dann , i’ve taken the liberty to clean up your wish and rephrase it a little. Should still convey your wish properly though. I hope that is ok  .

Yes we need this!! It’s quite difficult to properly crop without hearing the loop, I was surprised that crop had no playback functionality. The only option is to toggle over to sample playback, set to forward loop, write down or memorize the new start and end points, then go over to Crop and enter said points, which becomes tedious (especially when recording and I forget to hit Crop after setting the start / end points… lol to my user error, but happens when working too quickly)
You have my vote sir
