Thanks for looking at this.I think I have found part of what the problem is. I have copied a couple of songs , naming them accordingly, via my computer. These song files don’t seem to be populating on the step correctly. It seems like those copied songs aren’t able to be added normally via the step operating system, and rename them doesn’t really work with them normally either.
update please. So, other than naming a copied “song” accordingly / properly, how else would I be able to “copy” a song file? Renaming on the STEP device is not fun, so I would rather just make copies on my computer and rename accordingly. I can only imagine that this can be fixed with a firmware update- appears to be a file system error on the STEP.
Yep, will try to update today. Could you please update the title/description of this bug given that it specifically impacts songs renamed outside of the Step’s OS?
Sorry, I had also meant to clarify earlier when I asked what OS you were using, I was not referencing to the Step but either PC or Mac and what OS version. It could help understand the file renaming issues.
Just ro clarify - If other products from Polyend are any indication, they tend to store the project/song name inside a file. So it’s seperate from the actual filename.
This is probably what you are experiencing when you are renaming outside of the device.
So maybe this should be a feature request instead of a bug? Since it is just how the system works.
When I create a copied, properly named file- the song does not list on the STEP, and when I navigate to that song “number” on the STEP- a new song gets created in that slot. Both files still show when viewing on the computer. Sandroid comment above sounds like the problem, but I don’t get why the youtube video works. What am I missing?
I think I found the issue. Looks like there were errant characters and missing characters in the filename. No spaces allowed past the song title, and proper space character in the fist part of the filename <ex:"121 - ">. This is resolved
