Feature requests for the next Step firmware update

Message to the Step powers-that-be…

I just saw on Instagram some of the new features on the Mess firmware update.

We Step users would really appreciate having these features as well:

1. The ability to simply mute a track by pressing a button + the track button.
2. A master volume control.

And while I’m wishlisting, could you please also add a tempo lock function? I keep changing the tempo unintentionally too easily.

Track Mute Functionality

What is the problem? I would like to request the ability to mute individual tracks. When creating a beat, it’s often useful to temporarily silence a specific track to focus on other elements. A possible implementation could be muting a track by pressing the Beat knob and the corresponding Track button simultaneously. What should this feature achieve? Tempo Lock Function

What is the problem? I often accidentally touch the Step’s tempo knob — much more often than I’d like! It would be great to have an option to lock the tempo, especially when the Step is placed on the floor. What should this feature achieve? A Tempo Lock would make the Step more reliable and performance-friendly. It prevents accidental tempo changes, helping users stay focused on playing and creativity instead of readjusting settings.
