Could-have-been Greatest Groovebox... but

That’s not what I am referring to. I had a private conversation with da.lgrnd about this and don’t feel like repeating it all here.

I sold my polyend play+ yesterday, if you say that this doesn’t affect the brand, great. But there are too many gadgets out there for me to have one that is still broken months and months later.

I am also trying to sell my tracker, my M8 is far superior and above all it does what it promises and is “polished”.

I tell it angrily, it’s not coming here to troll for free, but I hope that at least my action helps the brand wake up.

I’m not a beta tester.

Good luck to you.

Im sure you can always rebuy the device used or new, if you change your mind…

I bought this equipment because I really liked it. And I really think it’s a different and very fun groovebox!!!

But as I’ve already said, I bought it with the intention of doing live performances, but it has so many bugs that it can’t be used. Bugs that have not been fixed for months.

I don’t think anyone likes selling equipment, and in less than a year, I’ve lost money with all this. Honestly, I’ll have a hard time trusting Polyend in the future, the brand image is very damaged.

They better not… :skull_and_crossbones:

Hello atumrex,

You acknowledged above that Mitch communicated, that his development team is working on this.

So, there are no reasons to additionally throw salt on a wound, because I’m sure Mitch is aware of the interest in his products and the high passion from his user-base.

I could also imagine that this topic, which escalated with 170 replies within 10 days also marked some important key points and feedback, which the team can discuss internally and improve for better end-user experience for the future.

Honestly, one doesn’t expect Polyend to be aware of this, but rather to not release a product with so many flaws, and if they do release it… not to wait months and months without being able to fix it.

The wait is over.

It seems that representatives from Polyend have explained on the forum that they’re unable to provide update timelines because everything is too complex. They also mentioned that they can’t fix critical bugs swiftly due to the same complexity. As a software developer, I understand that there are indeed situations where not everything can be fixed quickly. However, I also know that many issues can be addressed more promptly, which Polyend seems not to be doing.

The problem clearly lies with the company. We, as users, lack proper communication from the manufacturer and systematic updates. In essence, we’re dealing with defective instruments that contain bugs. The company seems to be ignoring us in this matter. They don’t release official statements, fail to explain the situation, and don’t offer any compensation for our waiting and patience. What’s your opinion on this?

Sorry guys, I couldn’t resist. But it’s true. :see_no_evil:

P.S. - I honestly don’t understand why the company released such a mediocre compressor pedal, of which there are already so many on the market. Nothing innovative. It would have been better to create an original digital multi-effect unit in the style of their main products.

User repeatedly ignored staff warnings and kept posting incendiary comments.
This user has now been silenced until October 21, 2024 1:00 PM. - @Sandroid

hey everyone, I’d really just like to talk to you all like normal people, and be more transparent but…people that behave like this make it hard to want to do (you probably don’t see the flagged and reported posts).
Sorry for the jokes and defensivness, I’m going to update you all as much as I can next week, but honestly people like this guy do a disservice to the community. When people behave in this manner it makes it more difficult to get a read on the real community, and easy to say “oh it is just the trolls that are angry, there are always trolls on the internet”. I understand it isn’t just the trolls, we hear ya and I’ll do what I can to communicate more next week!

Some suggestions for the team:

  • create a proper public bug tracker for tracking issues and suggestions (e.g. on Github); this forum is not it.
  • see above

Honestly, it’s the signs of professionalism that are missing, and one of those is this: using a forum for bugs and suggestions instead of a proper tracker. That, together with everything else that has happened, with slipping dates, prioritizing features over bug fixes, and a ‘screen-out’ approach to betas which can lead to confirmation bias, are the things that make me concerned about how Polyend is doing things (and the fact that the Play+ shows as ‘sold out’ doesn’t exactly give me confidence either). Having a proper issue tracker I think would be a good first step.

phew… well… this was very hard to read honestly… i’m so frustrated also that i dont even want to share my experience and start all over again (did it couple of times in different manners including those so called “civil and polite”, been banned, etc), because it seems like it doesnt even matter really here. 5 years since og tracker release… i see what have been done at other camps like M8 and Elektron… in terms of bugfixes and features. Why those examples? Trash80 is a SINGLE dude who runs M8 thing (a small company excuse), Elektron is kinda big nowadays right? In its own niche.
well, my guess nothing will change here towards better communication between polyend and users, so just carry on, sell the gear while you can and move on to better places.

Yes you can.
A user has flag your post as inappropriate.
I have rejected the flag as you may have noticed.

I think you are jumping the gun here a little by assuming there is no proper issue managment.

There actually is internal issue management/tracking. It’s just not publicly available.

For some transparency:

  • Bug Reports that are submitted here, are tested (by attempting to reproduce them) and if found to be bugs they are filed in the Polyend internal Bug Tracking System.
  • You may have already noticed the logged tag.
  • If they can’t be reproduced, more questions are asked until it becomes reproducable or until a topic goes stale because of lack of feedback.

Polyend actually used Github in the past for this, but it seems that for most non-technical users, Github was a bit too esoteric to use. So i personally think it’s actually better that they scout them through here and then actually file them in a proper issue tracker.

This is a good time to remind everyone. If you got a Bug please make sure that you provide reproducable steps and (if you can) any project or data associated with it. The more information you can provide (maybe even a step by step video) is super helpful.

This conformist approach is why we cannot have nice things. If the unit feeezes, glitches, or needs a reboot to upload custom samples, then fine, wait for a firware update. Cannot reliably save a session, pages gone as if they never existed, patches switching and resetting? This is blatant disrespect to customers and their hard earned money. Fixing this device should be P1. Hobbyist or Pro, not being able to reliably save your work or having a selected patch assign itself to all other synth tracks is just unacceptable. Yes, I would rather play a video game than waste time redoing the same edits everytime I load a session. Anyone that experiences this type of behavior from their Play+ and says that its “fun” is either delusional, a complete shill, or just lying through their teeth. Lets get a good fix for this and leave out the new features and sugar coating until this thing delivers.

It becomes increasingly hard to see it any other way.

Wow.

Let me just say that, as someone who doesn’t own any Polyend products and is considering buying the Play+, reading this thread is pretty discouraging.

I mean… I’m still probably going to buy it, but this thread convinced me to get an extended money-back guarantee as well, so thanks for that. However, I personally know two people who were completely put off by the situation with Play(+) and chose different options, so I’ve seen firsthand how this is negatively impacting Polyend’s sales.

As a software developer, I agree with others that fixing bugs should really be the top priority. It’s hard for me to understand how it’s been almost a year since the last update (please correct me if I’m wrong).

I’m really looking forward to Mitch’s promised update this week to get a clearer idea of what (mess?) I might be stepping into.

I really hope this whole situation turns around soon. :crossed_fingers:

I’m sorry I had enjoyment using the Play+. I should have consulted with you first.
