Could-have-been Greatest Groovebox... but

But then there are the people that have not experienced the issues that you mention. So they are all conformist according to you?

People use these devices in different ways and thereby will run into or experience different issues. I’m not saying there aren’t any issues. We can all agree there are issues, but it’s not as black and white as a lot of you folks want it to be.

I think that when you buy something, no matter how it is made, you expect it to be fault-free and, if there are any, that they are fixed quickly.

Releasing a product with multiple flaws, and months and months later still having it unresolved, is a major brand problem.

yea I’ve never had any of those issues @claudionapoles mentioned. I push my unit pretty hard too. I find the synth engines a bit buggy & the ui has issues, but I’ve still enjoyed my time with it. can’t wait for an update & the perc engine.

different folk as you say.

My first time powering the Tracker+ on, it crashed, my first time entering notes, they flooded into multiple channels and the off times. It has remained under the 50 dollar plastic cover I bought for it, in the case I bought for it for weeks now. I filled out the form(which forced me to do a general survey) for the beta bug fix for it about a week ago, and still no access or email letting me get access to it

Quoting from the post announcing the beta program;

We will review all applicants and send you an invitation if you’ve been accepted. If you don’t get access immediately, please be patient. We plan to add selected testers in small batches as needed.

Thanks for your interest in helping us build better products together through our community!

No, I’m sorry. Evidently I should have consulted you first to know what kind of intent to expect from Polyend. That said, dumb pieces of electronics do not cost $800. My comments have nothing to do with “missing features”. It has everything to do with the advertised feature set and basic functionality (like saving) not working properly. If your unit does not fail at basic functions, then consider yourself lucky and definitely share your opinion on how enjoyable the unit really is. Telling this forum to assume best intent when your unit is at the very least reliable, and referring to it as a dumb piece of electronics borders on diseespect for those who’s unit fail and felt the sting of money flying out the window. Polyend might not want their gear to fail, but releasing new product in the middle of this issue really speaks volumes about the motivation and focus. Look, if this unit was not fun and have so much promise, I would not even bother posting here, I would rather be singing its praises for being such an intuitive and novel approach to beat making. In short, I dont care about new features, I just want it to work with what it came with. Cheers.

I dont see the feedback and criticism in this thread as coming from “different folk”. Did you mean folks that have had different experiences, have a different standard of quality, and have different flavors of functionality depending on which batch their unit came in or what was pulled of the shelf? Im glad you are not experiencing these issues, if you had, Im sure it would have been a deal breaker for you as well.

I mean different experiences.
I’m not disregarding the issues you’ve had, they sound like a pain. I just haven’t had them myself.

I don’t know if they are conformists are not, since they have not experienced what I have and perhaps are also having fun with the p+. All I know is that putting all functionality issues into the same bucket regardless of how critical they are (ranging from a slight nuisance to trashing hours of tour creativity) and expect everyone to assume best intent is misguided and that is all. The attitude, tone, feedback and criticism on this thread will take as many shapes as this device has issues as we are clearly seeing.

That is fair and i think we all agree that reproducable bugs that affect base functionality should always have highest priority.

As promised, I have compiled and summarized all grievances, both from here and across other platforms, for Polyend’s review. As Mitch mentioned, Polyend is actively reviewing these concerns and will provide us with a an update hopefully soon.

In the meantime, i know we can all get heated at times in here (me included) but i would like to extend my gratitude to y’all, since for the most part we all kept it in check

It is very clear that most if not all of us are very passionate about these devices and want them to be awesome. Let’s make it so!

How else does it need ro be presented? Are we also taking reddit users, youtube reviews (unbiased ones of course) and comments from different forums and platforms into account? If they have not caught wind by everything that is already out there, then they are truly lost.

Yes. I’ve taken reddit, facebook groups, other well known gear related forums and discord into account.

I would have understand the irony, but let’s take into account that everyone here use their software, which is de facto industry standard. And I would have understand it, if Polyend provided much better support for the products, like: «what? ableton? yeah, they’re big company, but their support and their products are nothing comparing with what we have to offer!». No one is perfect, sure, but that was a funny reaction for the thread that is full of people who lost their sh#$ with the hardware they have. Also, anyone who is serious about music production would prefer (and can afford) Push 3 Standalone, that reliably does much more for the money, even considering its pricetag (let’s pretend for a moment that 800$ for Play is cheap).

Justifying bugs and releasing half-baked devices just because you’re a small company doesn’t work. Dirtywave is also a small company, much smaller than Polyend, and its M8 tracker is constantly receiving updates and fixes.

I might be the only one, but I don’t :person_shrugging:

Me too 100% dawless

I wanted to put a word «almost», but then I removed it, because seriosuly I don’t know a single musician that produces music that doesn’t use DAW in one way or another. It may be FL, it may be Bitwig, but these are… what was that word we use here? not representative? Most use Ableton.

The dawless philosophy is appealing, but most of the time when I hear «dawless» I picture a dude with very expensive hobby, a little known youtube channel and zero finished pieces. That’s how I see it. I’m sure there are some exclusions. Maybe you are the exclusions, so don’t take it personal.

As far as I know, BeetleCrab are also just two guys. Take a look at their Tempera, highly recommend. In the last year they’ve made several huge patches that heavily improved already great feature set, and they are keep going.

Lol, this gave me a good chuckle and totally reinforced my decision made in this case.
I clearly tried to help them, but then i enacted my nefarious plan and i’m the “fucker” who banned them. :man_shrugging:

  • goes on complaining and gets first account silenced for getting “sassy”
  • creates second account to continue the shenanigans and then gets blocked
  • goes to different forum to complain about being mistreated
  • and then goes ahead and calls me names again

Yeah… that checks out.

This is a prime example why i ask for the conversations to remain civil and respectful.

This conversation has made one thing clear to me though. I too can do my part in improving transparency. Hence from now on i will keep doing exactly what i have done for this comment, in order to ensure transparency towards actions taken and what lead up to said actions.

It’s ok to be upset about the state of things and voicing your opinions, as we have now clearly established in this topic. But the moment you start being disrespectful, don’t start crying if you get put in a corner.

Which is exactly why i included reddit
