Could-have-been Greatest Groovebox... but

@Sandroid please…

(post deleted by author)

your initial quote of mine was about the play. that’s why I replied.

I never said the move was for beginners. I do think it’s positioned perfectly for the beginner market tho. the price + ableton ecosystem. I also think it’s shite, but that just personal preference. I’m not the target audience :joy:

Guessing the complexity could have to do with midi performance mode? I’d be fine with an update that just adds PERC to the synths. Performance mode for synths would be an awesome bonus too, would be pretty much perfect then! At this point don’t even care about having it on the midi side anymore.

Okay I see where you are coming from, as far as priorties - I feel like a parent here saying “we love all devices equally” but 1. Press is all analog and doesn’t involve anyone from our software team, or QA. 2. We aren’t trying to priortizing Tracker over Play, we have separete developer teams for each(ok so now you know who is getting that Christmas bonus) and the update is definetly not abandoned, I can promise you that.

Yeah…I mean, it boils down to capitalism in the end. They offer a “lesser” version to get you hooked and sell you up over time. It’s always the same. And looking at myself I have to say: it worked…I own a 2000 Euro device and almost everything else they have to offer… It’s a severe case of GAS… and we all have it…

I still love my Tracker to pieces…nuff said.

Press sounds awesome!

To be honest, I had Machinedrum, Monomachine, Octatrack, Analog 4 and Analog Heat +FX.

The only device, which I have left today from Elektron is Analog Heat +FX and it works great with my Polyend Tracker to add some “heat” to the output or just to make a boring synth/keyboard sparkle a little.

I have 2 Analog Four’s and an Octatrack

Well most of us had and still have tons of hardware but myself covered with 2 Digitone 1 Digitakt and Analogue Four and Syntakt ( just to mention Elektron ) and I only love Grooveboxes and Desktop Synth… I’m personally attracted by the challenge that a little box can provide ( see Seqtrak and OP-Z ) my point was that I don’t think Ableton will put something on the market dealing with their daw directly ( in importing ) only to dismiss their users unless they go for the Standard.

Please with the bonus, please consider adding yet another person to your payroll on the play development team. Faster, more reliable and innovative code will work like karma.

The ableton move stuff? I think it’s too late for that :joy:

They’ve released Push 3 with Live Intro…a 2000 Euro device (at the time) …so…I wouldn’t bet on Ableton making only sound decisions…

Anyways. We had a lot of fun here, a lot of derailing has happened and the mods fortunately are rather nice on here. Going to leave this thread now. Luv you all!

Sorry for the non-sequitur; I’ll never buy another ableton product. Here’s why: back when they announced Live 9, they announced that it would have tools for online collaboration. I had just purchased the previous version, but that got me all stoked about the possibility of working on tracks with a friend in a seamless way. So I bought 9, assuming that they would make good on that announcement. And they still have not delivered that feature.

Always worth just responding “I am having this bug too” just in case someone incorrectly thinks the bug is not happening for most users.

I love Play+ too, it’s so innovative and fun… I don’t know if there’s priority for tracker but it has been said a million times here that update will come. I hope update(s). They’ve not abandoned OG tracker, si I’m totally sure that we will see more things about okay+ in the future .

Play+ is a genuine piece of art. It’s the most fun music machine that I’ve ever had. It has his flaws (very slow behaviour on big projects, folder navigation, no swap samples…) but in general is a very very well designed device. I didn’t experience any major bugs with the latest update so at the moment I’m happy with it. Could be better? Yes. And I hope it will be in a future.
