Beginners first steps - what's wrong with my grid?

Just wanted to start learning how to use the Play+, after I installed the latest FW.

But what is wrong with the grid??
In the 2 upper rows 12 pads, every second pad, is permanent illuminated in a different color!?! I never saw that in any of the plenty tutorials on YT!

No matter what I do, which view I choose, pressing the pads, or what project I load, even when I load a new one - it stays always the same.
What does that mean, why is that so?

Is my unit damaged?

Just found a quite similar thread by a user that had the same problem, exept that he had 5 pads always illuminated, while on my unit there are 12 pads affected. But the behaviour is the same:

Play+ Lights staying on all the time - Bug / Archive - Polyend Backstage

As I understand that thread I am dealing with a faulty unit, right? How frustrating!
Just purchased it a few days ago at Supersound in Poland…

Just sent a message to the Technical Support and another to the dealer Supersound.

Now it’s getting strange: Suddenly as I powerd the unit on again, everything seems to be ok!

All pads look like they should and the unit seems to work (tried some basic things).

That is really strange, because before that happend I powered the unit on and off several times, and the issue was present all the time.

And than - I didn’t do nothing with the unit - the issue is suddenly gone!?

So what now? I am really unsure:
Should I rely on that this status will be stable?
As the unit had the issue over several times powering on/off.
Should I keep the unit and hope for the best?
Or try to get a replacement - just because there MUST be something wrong with the unit, although it seems to be ok right now…?

It happend again in the meantime.
But as the support just told me, such symptoms may be connected to some power supply issues. Perhaps my computer-USB and my other used power supply were to weak.

And infact my experience so far is that doesn’t happen, when powered by the original power supply. I’ll keep that in mind…

I had same issue. I plugged mine into a different wall socket and the colors went away.

Good to know, thanks!

I’ve had similar issues when I run the play by plugging usb c to op1 field. In that case the play runs off of the op1 battery. Sometimes it works fine and other times I get strange results with all sorts of random led colors. I think all of these sorts of problems are either a bad usb cable or most likely the result of an underpowered play. If you use the cable and the psu that came with the play and you still have issues then I’d be concerned but I’m sure in most cases it will work as expected when properly powered.

Thanks! Yeah, your right. That is exactly what I experienced during the last days.
