just wanted to as if there is something new in the future for the play plus ? disnt read anything since some time ago
I feel bad for you. Itâs really sad to see things like this happening here.
Yes there will be firmware updates for Play+, sorry donât have anything public to share yet!
As you didnât mention anything on Play or Play+ in your latest quarterly update and you still cannot say anything about it, then indeed you:
And Iâll bet youâre not sure on the âyetâ part either.
No betas, no announcements, nothing. If you would indeed have a separate team working on Play / Play+, then they should be able to release something as an âincremental betaâ by now.
Give us the standard USB File Transfer, maybe an extra synth for the Plus, and call it a day. Itâs a nice concept, but multiple mistakes were made down the road.
If you want the truth ââ as in can you handle the truth
ââ companies in this filed make much of their money on âânew product releaseââ and or bringing into the market a ââstarââ a best seller that can be on the market and sell great for years..
Star sellers are product like: Arturia MicroFreak (now at os 4.0) & Korg Minilogue (great sales for a decade) ⌠product like this give companies flexibility to widen their catalog and continued support! âŚ
If The ââtop 10 Tracker wish-listââ was implanted it be amazing product, the Play is quite fine as is, although it could be great with a few tweaks. I donât know what their sales ranked are like but the last Tracker update was rather underwhelming on features and we waited very long for new updates; ââa statement for the play OS was: it will be worth itââ yet the update was more: bug fixesââ and its now stable and a dam fine and creative product.
However both product including the Synth (which lacks sequencing and is pushing into LCD lag on max loads) all have a dedicated focus. They are all mighty in their own right. But none of them are clear ââstar productsââ⌠If you combine the tracker sampler, the play sequencer, the synth UI and plugins and the Mess FX youâd in the portable fast workflow Polyend is known for youâll have a start product, something that will attract users from Abelton, toand through to MPCs & Elektrons..
The groove/production stations is a growing huge pie, Polyend could take the crown, their ideology and designs trailers to die hard samplist /synth enthusiasts, semi and pro producers! They have some of the most innovative and creative tools around but non of them reaches ââremarkable instrumentââ statusâŚ.
The reason Im mentioning this is that its hard for a Company to output a ââreal lifeââ statement/ scenarios to their customers, it might backfire as some kind of disloyalty to their user base. But the good news is that a ââ best seller star productââ will give the Polyend more flexibility/ addressing their old catalog.
That being said I hope that PE just make that ââoneââ instrument that conquers all! ,âput all hopes for huge updates for their back catalog on hold until PE has more freedom to conduct success across the board.
So just be realistic, be patent and for Christ sake if PE release a hybrid monster from all their products donât go throwing a fit because your play wasnât first in line, just understand the lifeline the companies have to play by ⌠there are also other factors like the limbo of current political affairs..

Thanks for sharing your truth.
Hopefully PE is one of those companies thatâs willing to kill its darlings (because once they were), and to kill them softly.
Its not my truth .. its the way of the industry,.. small operations/teams with large distribution have limited resources, there needs to be commercial viability for any continued support and peak sales are on product lunch and sustained sales are compliant with great instruments..
It is simply sensible for a small team to focus on peak sales and or get that ââoneââ instrument that will support the rest ..
It is similar to how major music industries in the past worked out its portfolios, for ever 10 artist 7 lost money 2 broke even 1 (the star) payed for all the losses and brought profitsâŚ
you are completely free to live in your truth.. but its the most likely scenario; ââthere is a new product comingââ and the team is working full force on resourcing that new release.
Looking back a couple of year from now. I donât think that they care about it honestly. Itâs very sad but true.
oh i understand all your statements and i really thank you for your answers
even if they are not any news about the play .
Well, I guess you know business. But what made you think I needed to be educated on this?
Well @Mitch, should we consider the Play OG EOL or is there still something cooking?
you did not seam to have any clue to why no betas nor announcements where in play ⌠its wasnât an education but more of an explanation likely reasons to why⌠a clue if you will ![]()
so sad
I really loved the play+, apart from a couple of things that ultimately made me leave it for pastures new.
-
its synth engines really should have the UI from Polyend Synth, rather than the list based editor. itâs a real shame. it would be absolutely killer if it they had that UI for editing patches.
-
the lack of a 2nd high pass filter on samples to clean up a mix.
an idea could be to do it like the teenage engineering OPXY, where each track has a secondary high pass filter in the settings. then you could place specific samples/steps on the desired track.
those 2 things make me end up struggling with finishing tunes on play+. but other than that itâs so good, and it sounds amazing.
it would have been amazing if play+ had audio in for sampling, and an internal battery. imo they were missed opportunities.
Very good ideas, I miss another filter.
I guess Play+ will not have very much updates. But seeing the love from Polyend for self contained machines to make music (which I love) like tracker and Play, I expect in a future a new device with more possibilities.
I only wish one Thing to those devices:
- Add midi program change in!!!

Meanwhile, Play+ is awesome.
yea i hear ya.
I think a play mini could be an interesting prospect. handheld battery powered like the tracker mini. maybe it wouldnât work, but Iâd love to see something like that ![]()
Please please polyend, make the software of the play open source. It shall give you a massive sales boost to a product that will sell less and less because of the software.
It seems Play is not the star on sales so itâs firmware is not priority. I just want they to fix the Preview for the MIDI Tracks.
itâs no.15 in groovebox sales on thomann atm. thatâs a very respectable position. I hope itâs still doing well in general. Iâd love play+ to get more tasty updates in the future.
@Mitch you won. But also lost one customer. Exit.
