A $22,000 Gold Tracker?

I was searching for the general term “sampler” on Reverb and sorted on descending price. I was more than a little surprised to see a Tracker as the highest priced sampler on Reverb. The next highest listing is a significantly cheaper Synclavier!

Is this seller serious/insane or is this just a front for selling something else?

They do say investing in gold is a good idea. :grinning:

Well they’re insane if they think they’re gonna get that much for one of the limited edition golden Trackers that Polyend did.

Maybe it’s the one that Jeremy had?

Well, it’s a long shot, but you miss all the shots you do not take, right? After all you need to find just one rich guy looking for a new toy. 22k is not much money for some people

I think the amount of gold on that is negligible, even thick layers are typically just a few microns, so it’s probably less than a gram.

However, that is good news if you want a gold tracker yourself, because you can have your front plate gold plated for not too much money, even though you’ll probably pay a full lot charge for handling.

I was just being sarcastic. I’m betting there is little if any real gold involved in the gold edition.

Let’s see:
Tracker Weight: 2.65 pounds convert 2.65 pounds to troy ounces: 2.65 pounds X 14.5833 troy ounces per pound ≈ 38.0457 troy ounces
Current value of gold approx: $2,736.27 per troy ounce
Calculating: 38.0457 troy ounces X $2,736.27 = $104,103.31 Its a deal!

I’m a EE, so my training leads me to believe a solid gold Tracker wouldn’t actually work but as you note it would still be a good value. :grinning:
