What is the problem?
I suggest a feature in the settings menu that is turning the play to a midi sequencer without the audio side, making the play a 16 channel midi sequencer.
That will give the users a choice to use the play as a 16 channel midi sequencer features in a useful way with no extra memory usage.
The Play can create now a good base for a produced track, but this feature will allow users to have full production, and using no extra resources.
Another optional idea that in settings you can choose if the channel will be in audio mode or midi mode. That will be a more complex implementation of this feature.
What should this feature achieve?
This feature will make play more useful as a polyphonic sequencer and also will make it a better fit for more complex hardware setup.
An example might be a setup with a multi channel sampler, that is using all 16 channel, or most. Another example will be an complex chord progression that is consuming 5 tracks, 16 tracks will open also a good option for daw users.
Are there any workarounds?
The only option is to use program changes , but still it’s not in the same time. So it’s not really a workaround.
Another is to have few midi channels on one play channel, but that is not at all time useful, as users want to solo the kick or the sner.
