Why does Synth buzz when turned off?

I know there is another thread about Synth buzzing in this forum but that thread does not address or resolve my issue. I have 5 other synthesizers connected to my mixer in the same manner but Synth is the only one that buzzes when it’s turned off. Synth is on its own mixer channel with gain set to 12:00. I’m using the Polyend wall wart PSU and Polyend 1/8” stereo cable into my mixer. It doesn’t matter where I plug the wall wart - into a power strip with other synths or directly into the wall. Touching the Synth when it’s turned off does not affect the constant buzzing. I have a DAWless setup so I’m not using any USB connections. I am running OS 1.2. I did not get any buzzing when I had Synth running in standalone mode with headphones. Curiously, when I turn Synth on, the buzzing immediately goes away. And when I turn Synth off, the buzzing immediately comes back. This is not a showstopper as I can just turn down the gain on Synth’s dedicated mixer channel when I’m not performing on it. But this doesn’t seem right.

Sounds like a grounding issue.
Can you please tell wich mixer you use and how its connected to the synth? Stereo channel? Two cables?

The Synth 1/8”audio output goes into Polyend’s 1/8” stereo jack which splits the signal into two 1/4” female ends. From there I have two 1/4” cables plugged into a single channel with two inputs on my Behringer Xenyx Q802 USB mixer. I switched to different channels on this mixer but still get the loud, constant buzzing with Synth turned off. I even switched to a different mixer - Eurorack MX602A - but still buzzing.

I switched cables to a Hosa 1/8” stereo male into Synth output that ends in two 1/4” male inputs that go into my mixer. Buzzing is a little worse.

However, when I remove the 1/8” stereo cable from Synth and plug it into the audio output of Sonicware Ambient0, the buzzing disappears. So, I don’t think it’s my cable or mixer but rather Synth that is the source of the buzzing.

And, again, none of my other five synthesizers exhibit this buzzing when turned off.

Thanks for the detailed description.
Perhaps you can also record the buzzing sound and attach it to this thread, so the devs can get a better understanding of the problem.

In the meantime, can you use only one mono cable to one channel of your mixer and see if the problem persist?

Disconnecting either of the two mono cables does not make the buzzing go away. In this video I start with Synth off and you can hear the buzzing. When I turn Synth on the buzzing goes away. And then when I turn Synth off the buzzing returns.

My Synth does exactly the same thing. Easy enough to mute that channel when its turned off but the behavior is definitely unexpected, and, like you, does not happen with any of my other synths plugged into the same mixer. Including my Tracker.

@customdigi Also welcome to the community! Nice to have you here.

@tomfabinski thanks so much for the video. Maybe one of the devs can shed a light what is going on here.
