Where is polyend going?

I’m with polyend since tracker og. Since i bought the mini, tracker plus and after a long search the medusa. I realise that all except the mini are discontinued. And I also see that the trend seems to be to narrow down functionalities. For instance, in og you could record while playing the keys. The mini didnt have the radio any more. And medusa seems to be a cul de sac, although it’s a fantastic instrument. Lately somebody offered me 1500 bucks for mine… here I got the impression they simply got into difficulties to support it any longer. Also it was available only for a short time, I could be wrong? So a long history of abandonded projects, makes me fear that they produce future doorstops.

Tracker line is not discontinued and neither is the Play line.
Is it possible you might be assuming this because the devices show up on the Polyend Legacy page of their website? Or because they are out of stock at the moment?

The one device that is discontinued is the Medusa.

I don‘t think the narrowing down is on purpose either. For the mini the removal of the radio was most likely done due to size constraints because they added a battery. The successor to the original Tracker (the Tracker+) still has pads and the radio module.

medusa was a limited collaboration with another company (dreadbox) its not even solely a polyend device nor is it branded as such

they did a cool thing together; sold it for a year or two; thats all

doesnt mean they abandon products constantly

og tracker still gets fw updates occasionally and its quite old now

i cant wait for OG updates with some basics! but truthfully its probably their best rounded device! im keeping it over the plus because of the convoluted synth implementation. its not really worth the big price. but the used price is getting cheaper! ill just wait. but my bet is something will come along that hits the spot in a way the plus doesnt.

Polyend is going towards the future and here’s the proof

I want to see a more powerful Tracker that handles more instances of whatever synth engines, and all track lanes to be able to have any synth, midi or samples not limited just to the first 8 tracks. So I hope we see a new one in the pipeline in the near future. That machine is too good to be shelved.

Yeah. They just released the anniversary edition of the mini and from what I understand the Tracker+ and Mini share the same “code”, so they wouldn’t release new hardware and then abandon the platform. I imagine we will see an update soon. I don’t really see the need for frequent updates since the Tracker is pretty full featured.

Where is Polyend going? Probably a bit more higher end considering their latest bad boy called …Drum. It’s more expensive than my new MPC XL.

Cool, not my vibe at all… but it does look highly impressive. Congratulations to all involved. No doubt they will get roasted online with keyboard warriors chiming in with “ I’ll wait for the plus version,”

I’m an OG Tracker user, I use it a lot. I’m currently writing a conceptual 8 track Neo Techstep EP for Blaq Records based in Berlin. My own samples into the OG T, mixed down on the machine, rendered as a final song…then mastered. Back to deliberate basics, how we did it in the UK in 93.

I have also just bought a Synth. Wow, wow.wow.. It’s not 100% perfect but neither am I. Is anything perfect, no. We improvise because that’s part of the challenge. It does sound good for creating my moody Si Fi intros.

OG Tracker is still supported with little tweaks… nearly 6 years down the road from its original release date.

Synth is being rinsed out with new features and debugs. I wonder what else you will add with future firmware releases.

Polyend thanks.

This is what’s up! Those are my thoughts exactly. While I won’t be joining the ranks of those buying one fresh off the dock, I think they deserve every penny they ask for it. It’s their masterpiece of sorts and is no small feat, no matter what the haters think. Tbh, I can’t wait to see some of the new features work their way into the Play and Tracker series.

I just picked up a synth, too, and it’s a sound design dream machine! There is just so much that can be done with it, it’s hard not to be amazed with it even with a rough edge here and there. That is one thing that I’ll give Polyend, their devices take ideas well and really open the grounds for exploration. I’m currently in the process of recording a few sets I’ve made using the mini and Play+, each 45-60 minutes, with custom patches and about 32 gb of samples available for tweaking and blending my little heart out with:laughing:Bugs and all, I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve chosen to power my spaceship.

I hope to hear some of that EP on the scene if ya can!
