πŸ₯ What is the best way to work with Drum Kits?

Share your experience and recommendations on how to best create beats.

Do you use Loop + Beat Slice or One Shots?

What do you use more often and prefer? Why?

Both are great in their own way.

Single shot = better if you want to dive-in with individual parameters and effects, but each shot occupy a instrument slot.

Beatslices = only takes one instrument slot and can make things organized like a drum group in a daw, you can here also get far using fx in the track. (You will loose a fx slot as the triggered beatslice need to be defined) I like this with drumbreaks, where you randomize/improvise the slice trigger to get a interesting new break.

I think the best option is to mix the usage as not all drums sounds need processing in my opinion.

My personal preference is one shots (either existing samples or creating my own) and then building my own loops out of them.

Not only can you go and change things at any point. But when rendering them down it’s like working with loops and allows for that freedom as well.

50 Shades Of The Amen Break. What else is there? Bass is obviously a 808 detuned to infinity.
