What is the problem?
Velocity is the primary method of expressive playing, but the Tracker+ only has rather static mapping of velocity to sample playback loudness.
What should this feature achieve?
Envelopes should include parameters for:
- velocity => envelope depth
- velocity => attack/decay time
This would allow a great deal of expressive playability for samples, as velocity information on playback can then affect:
- filter cutoff
- wavetable/grain position
- pitch depth
- attack/delay on loudness, for example a hard key press could have a fast attack on a bass note, with a softer key press for a more moderate attack on bass note.
This makes the samples expressive to play, rather than having to enter effect values, but also means effect values are freed up for other purposes.
Having velocity sensitive cut-off made some quite ancient samplers very expressive machines despite being pretty basic.
Are there any workarounds?
To some degree, post-editing effects, however effects are static for the step and not following an envelope.

I just remember my Akai S900 had rad filters and sounded great with velocity mapped to cut-off ![]()
