Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone here is using the Tracker+ primarily as a MIDI controller for Ableton Live, especially for machine-style live performances.
What I’m interested in is:
-
Using Tracker+ in Perform mode
-
Sending MIDI CC from knobs/pads to Ableton
-
Controlling Live’s effects (Beat Repeat, filters, distortion, etc.)
-
Possibly triggering clips or scenes
-
Building a hybrid machine live setup where Ableton handles audio processing and Tracker acts as the physical control surface
I know Tracker is not designed specifically as a DAW controller, but I’m curious whether anyone has successfully built a stable and expressive workflow around this idea.
If you are doing something similar, I’d love to know:
-
How are you routing MIDI? (USB or DIN?)
-
Any latency issues?
-
Are you using MIDI CC mapping only, or custom Max for Live devices?
-
Is Perform mode reliable for this purpose in a live context?
I’m aiming for a hands-on, unstable, machine-driven performance style rather than a pre-arranged playback setup.
Any experiences, tips, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
