USB audio breaks when loading new project, needs reboot

Bug Description

Tracker Mini configured with USB Audio In+Out, connected to Macbook running Live 11.
I’m using Live to monitor the Mini when I don’t have headphones. It works fine.

When I’m playing a project on the Mini then load a new one, everything stops working. If the Mini was still playing, the last audio buffer is played in a loop. Only way to stop it is to disconnect USB. Even after reconnecting, USB audio still doesn’t work : you need to reboot the Tracker Mini.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Connect Tracker Mini to Macbook via USB-C and set it up as audio input in Live, turn live monitoring to In.
  2. Play a song on the Mini.
  3. Load a new project.
  4. USB Audio is broken

Hi @renaud , sorry you’re experiencing issues. USB Audio is designed for Recording completed songs. Composing, and sound design over USB can cause audio playback issues. Scrolling synth patches during audio playback via USB is not recommended. Loading Projects while USB audio is engaged can also cause connection issues. To avoid them you can try the following…

  • Audio / MIDI over USB can have glitches or not get recognized by your OS/DAW as a device in certain configurations: depending on your CPU, USB connection, computer OS, DAW, buffer size setting, etc. To avoid issues we suggest the following:
  • Avoid using USB hubs (we don’t support them) and instead connect the device directly to your computer USB port
  • To make sure device is correctly recognized as an audio device by your computer OS and DAW:
    • first connect the USB cable while your device is still switched off
    • then power on the device
    • launch the DAW
    • and finally select device as your audio input and output device
  • If you are still experiencing issues then we suggest trying another buffer size setting or creating an aggregate device to use a different audio output device simultaneously with device as your input device
  • Aggregate device setting especially helps with buffer underruns which result in buzzing / frozen loop at the output and can happen in certain configurations during operations like switching synth patches while playback is running.

Let us know if any of that helps! I’ll close this issue in a week from now. Thanks for your support!
