Trigger chained patterns -> song via MIDI

My setup consist of several synths and two drum machines. A Roland TR-8S delivers the master sync signal, so I press play on it and the Play+, my Lm Drum and whatever synth with arpeggiators or whatever starts at the same time.

I use the Play+ for “backing tracks”, so when both my hands are busy either on a keyboard or on a guitar, it delivers bass, chords, etc.

But, as shift+play plays all patterns in a sequence, I cannot see a way to get that to happen when the Play+ is triggered via MIDI. It only plays the pattern that is selected.

I’d love to have a song mode so it plays all designated patterns in a sequence, because with both hands on a different instrument, it’s awkward to pause playing the guitar to select another pattern on the Play+.

Am I missing something, or is this a potential request for a future firmware update?

And I love-love-love the TR-8S as tempo master, because there’s no instrument or drum machine or what have you, that has the tempo as easily accessible as this:

While I very much agree it would be nice to be able to trigger playing a pattern chain via MIDI, this workaround may work for you:

While the Play(+) is playing, you can press Shift+Play[1] to toggle between play modes “loop pattern”/“loop chain”. Using that, you can press play on your TR-8S and then you just have to remember to press Shift+Play on your Play+ before the end of the starting pattern. From there on, you can keep your hand on the guitar.

[1] I’m only 96% sure this is the correct key combination. It may be something else. I don’t have my Play+ at hand to check.
