Tracker+ OG/mini - using a usb typing keyboard for naming files or other functions

What is the problem?

Naming files using direction buttons is slow on the mini

What should this feature achieve?

Being able to plug in a usb typing keyboard and type file names that way would speed up the resampling / naming process on the mini. It could also lead to faster workflows in other areas too like selecting effects or it could be used like the grid on a trackerOG/+ , especially if it was possible to use a usb keyboard with a rotary encoder, this could act like the wheel on a tracker

Are there any workarounds?

I tried plugging my keyboards to type in file names but they weren’t recognised

Nice one! I especially like the idea of not only typing in stuff, but using it generally as an expanded interface to the Mini. So many possibilities!

How do you power the Tracker and Tracker Plus, if you occupy the power-port with a USB-C keyboard?

Yeah i think the main issue here is that the USB Port does not do power delivery.
So you’d probably would need to connect a keyboard that can power itself and only sends data.

Thanks for the interest everyone. I only have the tracker mini and Medusa. So hadn’t thought about power. I suppose a powered hub could work? Would be great to be able to use a tying keyboard with encoders to control synth macros and play notes, as well as typing file names. The resampling feature is soooo good. Just naming is annoying. Can always go back and rename on the laptop but yeah…

Maybe using a midi controller to enter text would be a simpler solution
