Tracker Mini Project files

Does anyone know yet if the Mini will have the same project file format/structure as the OG Tracker so you can access the same project across both devices including instruments, etc?

I am imagining using the Mini portably and then moving the project to the Tracker to finish it (as an example).

I tried searching here for this info but couldn’t find anything. First post here so apologies if I am going about this in the wrong way.

Cheers for any info

Hi @therealhdea and welcome to the community!

From what i understand, initially the project format should be the same.

This will eventually NOT be the case anymore though, since the Mini is far more powerful and most likely we will see features on the Mini that won’t make their way into the OG Tracker (because of Hardware Limitations).

Thanks for the reply man! Makes sense what you’re saying.

To be clear and to add some more detail to my answer. There are already differences between the two.

First of all, the available memory - meaning if you would have too much sample data, it won’t be able to load those on the OG Tracker.

Second - Stereo samples. The OG Tracker won’t support those, but i imagine that conversion to mono could happen there.

So as you see, there are already differences. They are not insurmountable, but they already exist

It would seem to be a real pity if there wasn’t the ability to transfer between the two easily (albeit with some samples failing to load for example or getting converted to mono as required)
To have the two proceed down non-convergent paths would be to diminish the appeal of both machines

I think a compatibility mode or toggle in the config per project would be great. So we could limit the Mini to just use the OGs specs for the files for easy transfer between the two and both ways. A collab with friends would be easier that way.

Thanks for your question. We are still developing how compatibility will work but a track made on the OG tracker will work on the Mini, however the Mini will have almost 5x the sample size as well as stereo samples and a few other features. These will not transfer to the OG tracker so there will be either a progress bar or another indicator on the project that will let you know if your Mini project is compatible with the OG.
