Tracker Mini not charging anymore

Hey guys, Thanks for the good work! I just got my Tracker mini a week ago, used it every day and I am very happy about the new note input update, that was the thing missing for me.

Unfortunately, I experience some Battery issues after updating to the beta firmware. Disclaimer: I do not think this is related to the firmware update, but if it is, you guys should know.

I tested the new features right away and was using the mini for hours until my battery status went red. Then i used the supplied power adapter and cable to charge the device, as usual, but coming back an hour later: the device has not been charging, at least this is what the device displayed. Turning it on shows low battery indicator in top right and a popup message about low charge appears. Putting the device to a charger or to the computer does not seem to charge it. I tried several cables and power adapters, nothing seems to be charging the device now.

I flashed the original stable 2.01 firmware again but the problem still persists… I even tried resetting the device by using the manual reset on the bottom of the device.

So the device recognizes when a cable is plugged in by showing the battery status once and then the screen goes dark. This is the case for using the power adapter and plugging directly into the computer. Using the computer, i hear the USB beeing registert with the known sounds of Windows, the connection is then lost shortly after with the typical unplugging sound.

My battery ran out and i cannot use the device or charge it. I am already in contact with my retailer to get it replaced, but i wanted to post this, in case of it beeing a firmware problem and if any other person experiencing the same issues.

Maybe some of you already know this problem?
Best greetings and thank you for your time!

First of all, welcome to Backstage!

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble charging your Mini. Sounds like you already tried with a wide variety of power sources and cables. Did you also try flipping the USB-C plug 180 degrees? That sometimes helps my phone when it doesn’t charge after plugging it in.

Hey, thank you! Happy to be part of the backstage
Yes I did try switching the side of the port, I also tried to clean the port with pressurized air.
But it is very Strange, the device is only a week old, dirt and dust should not have gathered so fast.
Since nobody seems to be experiencing this problem, I guess it’s just a faulty connection and the device has to be replaced.

Alright. Remember to back up any data on the SD card that you want to keep before returning it for replacement.

Hello! I have recently had the exact same issue. I have been writing music on the tracker daily and today it just stopped charging after having it plugged in to recharge after a session. I have tried multiple cables and adapters, flipping cables and a factory reset. I recalled someone with this issue on here so I wanted to return to the thread in the hopes that someone can help me!

Just adding my experience to this thread. Received my Tracker Mini yesterday. It arrived with about 50% charge but has not accepted charge at all since arriving.

Ran through the usual troubleshooting steps:

Official charging brick and cable
Alternative charging brick and cable
Other cables
Drained battery through use and attempted overnight charge

All to no avail, so it would appear there’s a hardware fault causing the device to not charge.

Have contacted retailer for a replacement, fingers crossed more luck with the next one!

Just wanted to share for anyone else who may have this challenge.

hey, sorry to hear u guys having similar issues.

After my original post, my tracker mini got replaced and i used it almost every day until the end of 2024. The charging was fine in that time. This year i had this new device (fully charged) sitting in its case for some 2 months, due to a lack of spare time. Well, last week i finally got a chance to make a track again but to my surprise the device did not turn on anymore. It seemed to have discharged over the period i did not use. That would be fine for me, although i couldnt charge the device after its discharge anymore. Now i have sent the completely dead tracker back to my retailer and they sent it to Polyend for repair.

I am pretty disappointed with this issue occurring in such a short time for two different new devices. So i issued a refund, because i do not want to risk sitting on a dead plastic brick after some time again, or even worse, after the warranty ended. It’s a shame i cannot use these project files without a polyend device, but at least i have some stems, so it’s fine for me.

Its pretty sad, because i really liked the form factor, the workflow of the tracker mini and the great portability. It was definitely the best alternative away from a laptop for being creative between schedules, for my day to day at least.

I really hope Polyend addresses this problem and improves their QC in future batches of the tracker mini product line and for you guys in the thread to have yours being replaced and working for as long as you need it to!

Wow that’s not good. Mine will be on its way back to the retailer next week with a replacement coming to me.

Makes me fearful that this isn’t a one off and that there’s a persistent problem there.

I agree, the concept of the mini really appeals, suits casual music making in between times when too busy to sit at a computer/instrument.

Wow, that is not promising.

I submitted a ticket and I got an email from Polyend asking me to fill out a form to get a repair done, but haven’t heard back from them! Also, there is no system for tracking tickets beyond email so it’s hard to know if the form I filled out was received. It’s a major disappointment, because over the last year I’ve reorganized my workflow around the tracker and it’s been very productive for me. The idea that these are so faulty is such a pain.

I have sessions next week so I actually needed to get another one so that I could track out my work. In the mean time I’ll be following up again next week to find out about repairing my existing bricked unit.

Do you think that this may be limited to a batch? A specific series of serial numbers, or do you think this is more general?
