Hi, I’ve migrated over from 1.7.1 firmware to 1.8.
I have knocked the 50 shades of shit out of the new Firmware. I find it to be very stable, the 133 seconds sampling time is the mutts nutz.

I don’t recommend. 1.8 destroyed my SD-card. I went back to 1.7.1
I don’t think 1.8 destroyed your SD card. If it was destroying SD cards I’m sure we would have many more reports.
Flash storage is always vulnerable to data corruptionfrom power surges, magnetics, etc.
I back them up often and never consider SD card content permanent.
If your factorySD card doesn’t work please fill out a support ticket and we are happy to replace it if under warranty.

Yeah 1.8.0 is FAR superior to 1.7.1
I’d advise you upgrade straight away
As other posts caution though
Be careful of
1 power supply you use
2 SD card you use
3 Backup SD card fully and regularly or you Will lose work
