Tracker+ and sequences on a Minifreak

This is kind of a cross post from here:

My situation is that I have a nice preset on the Minifreak which has a sequence programmed to it. I want to play this sequence for different notes. When using the PT+ as a master sending notes via Midi the MF just plays the notes sent, but does not play the sequence.

I managed to get it working on my Dirtywave M8 by not sending clock via midi, but this did not help on the PT+.

Has anyone managed to do this?

I’ve got the same problem with the minifreak and the Play Plus… I hope you’ll get an answer!:crossed_fingers:

Hi, I have the original Tracker and the Microfreak as well. I have MIDI channel 3 assigned internally on the Microfreak, and once I select MIDI channel 3 as the instrument from the Tracker, I can play the notes from the Tracker’s pad without any problems. Have you checked that the MIDI mini-jack adapters for each device are the correct ones? What type are they? Just trying to get some ideas. Cheers.

I have checked the TRS type of my midis, they match the device. PT+ has TRS-B (I got dedicated DIN->TRS-B cables) and the M8 uses TRS-A (I got a DIN to TRS-A adapter and a DIN cable) so that should be correct.

Also the midi channel is set to 1 (Minifreak receives on chan 1, devices send on chan 1). And yes, I am able to play the MF using the pads on my PT+ (which is nice!).

So still no further info. Arturia relpyed to my ticket, but has been silent after that for the last days. Maybe they have some good ideas.

Well, I don’t directly use the Microfreak’s sequencer while moving other sequences with the tracker. What I do is extract an arpeggio or sequence of notes on the Microfreak, place it in context with the rest, and if I like it, I connect the Microfreak to Ableton, record the MIDI notes, generate a file, and open it with Renoise to clearly see the structure in tracker format. Then I manually transfer it to the tracker using the Microfreak’s MIDI track that I have assigned to the tracker. It’s a little trick I eventually figured out; I don’t know if it will be useful to you. Cheers!
