I would love to connect my Korg Triton taktile midi keyboard with my tracker+. I have an USB hub which delivers power and I connect both the tracker and the keyboard to it. But I get no midi events in the tracker, regardless of what I configure in the midi settings.
If I connect my iPad to the hub as well, it receives midi events from both the tracker and the keyboard just fine.
Is this setting supported or do I need to configure something else?
So they’re connected via USB only, not using midi cables right?
I’m not sure and I couldn’t find the threads I remember from a quick search but if I remember correctly the tracker doesn’t act as the midi “host” via USB. I have the mini but I think it’s the same limitation for both.
If you have AUM you could try with the 3 connected to route the midi in from the keyboard out to the tracker and that should work. If you don’t want to use the iPad there are some devices that can act as midi host, I think https://retrokits.com/shop/rk006/. Or connect them to the hub for power and use an additional midi cable from the keyboard to the tracker.
Actually searching for the rc006 turns up some posts on the topic:
Thank you for your reply. From what I learned so far and as you state in your post, the missing USB midi host capability is the issue. That is quite sad, otherwise one could have a clean and simple setup. There are many USB only midi keyboards around.
Buying a dedicated USB midi host would break my concept of having less, but more versatile devices.
The most simple solution for me - unless polyend implements it (if it is doable at all) - is to just buy a midi din to trs cable to hook my keyboard into the tracker.
So for the sake of completeness: I actually bought a midi cable (5 pin to 5 pin) and could successfully connect my keyboard to my tracker plus (using the adapter which came with the t+).
Thanks for your replies!
PS: I still prefer less cables and would love to have t+ acting as a n USB midi host.
